The Bullet From The Gun (Due South, prompt #33)
Title: The Bullet from the Gun
Fandom: Due South
Character: Victoria Metcalf
Rating: PG
Word Count: 219
Challenge/Prompt: #33 - secret
Summary: Victoria always carries a gun.
Victoria always carries a gun, always. You never know, she reasons. You just never know.
She doesn't bother with a holster or a belt, and though she likes the look of those straps that circle your shoulders (because they're kind of hot), they're not for her.
Victoria's gun lives tucked into the back of her jeans, resting at the top of her ass. She loves the way the cold metal feels against her skin first thing in the morning, loves the way it soon warms to her body temperature, making the gun feel like it's part of her, like it's an extension of her, her self.
She travels a lot, driving from place to place, always restless, and the best thing about being back in the good old US of A is that there's a shooting range in every hick backwater town, no matter how small.
She practises, and she's a pretty damn fine shot, if she says so herself. She's prepared. Any man who tries to mess with her will get a bullet for his troubles.
Fraser, of course, got a bullet for his troubles, she thinks. He took a bullet for her, really, when you get down to it. But that wasn't her fault, wasn't her decision.
She doesn't feel guilt, not about that. Not that.
