WHO: Emmeline and Gideon
WHAT: Actually not a drunken booty call, it's an accident. She meant to wake Sarah up. Honestly.
WHERE: The hotel where the Ministry are putting up
WHEN: circa 3:30am, post drinking with the Regs
So, drinking with Reg and... the other Reg had actually been pretty entertaining, even if Emmeline was a little pissed off that someone had trod on her toothpick-and-pickled-onion bomb replica in the melee that had followed that guy in the red cap being totally wrong about... something, whatever, he'd been wrong. Extremely wrong. It had practically been her duty to point out precisely how and why and also that his face was funny-looking.
Just remembering that made Emmeline snigger again, and then wince as the grin snagged on her split lip. She couldn't even swear out loud, because she was in the middle of a hotel full of the sodding Ministry, which was a pretty stupid place for her to be, she was trying to lay low here, but it was also where Sarah was, and it was just plain stupid that Emma had been on the same continent as her best friend for, like, a week or whatever and still hadn't managed to actually see her in person.
What number was she up to now? Emma looked up at the shiny numbers, which - 212? - yeah, that had totally been the number on the list next to Sarah when Emma had distracted the night clerk downstairs and snuck a peek. Totally. She rapped her knuckles happily against the door, a maneuvre made somewhat more complicated by the door leaning away from her, so she did it again, just to show that door who was boss.
And then it was quiet in the corridor. Really quiet. The bar had been closed downstairs as well, so they were going to have to go somewhere else to have another drink, and that was just soft, who closed the hotel bar at-- at-- Emma managed to get her wristwatch in sight and blinked at it.
Did that say half past three? Well fuck (Emma thought as the door opened) she was going to have to apologise to Edgar so much.
