ISLA DE SOL
CHARACTERS: See tags.
SETTING: Isla De Sol from March 2nd onward.
SUMMARY:
ISLA DE SOL ABOUT Aside from being the most gorgeous place in existence, Isla de Sol is a tiny island in Lake Titicaca full of history with very magical ties. It boosts not only a large mermaid cove but also a labyrinth and fountain of youth. The magical culture on the island is primarily based in Inca history and traditions. Those who practice magic on the island are the elders within the families and the priests in the cities. There are no motor vehicles or paved roads on the island. The main economic activity of the approximately 800 families on the island is farming, with fishing and tourism augmenting the subsistence economy. Of the several villages, Yumani and Cha'llapampa are the largest. KEY LOCATIONS Mostly based on actual shit there (because it is Amazing). MERMAID COVE. Located on the eastern side of the island at the edge of Mermaid Cove. The camp sits on a cliff a couple of yards above the small rocky beach of the lagoon. The landscape is barren; comprised of dirt, rocks, and sparse grasses. Fortunately, this area of the island is unpopulated by native muggles, though extensive concealment charms must be placed because of lack of tree cover (though, naturally, the perimeters extend down over the cliff and to the beach. This isn't a regular camp, it's a cool camp). Camp itself consists of three large tents facing inward toward a pit for campfires. A coven of mermaids with a city under the lake. It's your quintessential mermaid lagoon, topped with a picturesque mini-waterfall. The exact appearance of the mermaid city is unknown, but it's surely snazzy. Mermaids occassionally come to the surface to sing, dry their hair in the sun, splash about, and lure eager men in to the water's depths. WALKING PATH. A walking path that extends from Yumani to Cha'llapampa. Along this path there are two very large footprints. These are said to have been created when the sun dropped down to earth to give birth to Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, the "Adam and Eve" of the Incas. Also on the path (about 270 feet from Chinkana on the path back to the town of Cha’llapampa) is a sacred rock carved in the shape of a puma. Cha'llapama will have gillyweed? CHINKANA. A huge stone complex full of mazes. This labyrinth was thought to have been a training center for Inca priests and is currently populated by ghosts YUMANI. The largest town on the island and the site of the Inca steps. Here, 206 steps built by the Incas lead up into the town and to a sacred fountain. Made of stone and having three separate springs, it is said to be a fountain of youth. Has an Aymara priest who will put them into contact with the native culture and belief system.
