avaste
Hi hi! Literally every time I join a game I get sent out of town within 24 hours, so forgive my tardiness, apologies, etc., I am excite.

This is Anatoleas Vaste, a priest in the sect of Felor who's been with the faith since he was a teenager. He lives at the temple in Ostwill, and devotes himself to theology at the seminary there, with a particular interest in the most obnoxiously obscure technical corners of spellcraft. He absolutely despises teaching, but has ambitions, and so serves as a tutor to the princess, who is way more talented than he is a chore and a half.

He grew up in Ostwill, with a family with a pretty well-known name in maritime trade, so if you're a local, it's possible you've run into him before! (Or his brother, who's universally better-liked.) He loves a good scholarly argument, but he's also a real, dyed in the wool true believer when it comes to his faith; he's prickly, easily needled, and (as someone who's always on the lookout for the next step up on the power ladder, and very cognizant of his middling background) has very little ability to laugh at himself. Which is too bad, because he's pretty ridiculous. If you have some objective marker of power or status, he's likely to start out almost obsequious with you, and otherwise, he's just ... kind of awkward and overly stiff.

He's not a total asshole, though! He likes pigeons. Please be nice to pigeons.

roslyse
Hey guys. Anyone know which is the main comm and everything?

I'll keep this shirt. This is Roslyse. She's a half-elf thief. She's good at just taking things that don't belong to her, but she's better at smuggling things in, taking people's stolen property and getting a buyer. She kind of runs a little rag-tag group of thieves that all work together to do more than just a little light lifting of purses.

Actively looking for a grifter - someone who kind of pretends to be whoever they need (a noble, a peasant, something) usually in order to sell a scheme or just a distraction.

She's also got a husband out there, that she kind of stole some stuff from. He basically left when he realized just how good she was at being a thief. He's upstanding and all of that. That's a line that needs to be filled.

Anyway if you've got more thieves and want to work something out with her, or need someone to do some stealing - she's your gal.

hadmire
Hello everyone. This is Hadrian, second prince of Ostwill and rumoured schemer and pretender to the throne. He has a reputation for being a nasty sort of person, possibly because he's the second son, possibly because his string of illnesses have left him with a pronounced limp that may or may not be proof he's despised by the gods. Possibly just because people don't much care for him.

In truth, he's mostly a decoy for his sister Calpurnia, who runs the show behind the scenes and pretends to be vain and bored in public. When he's not moving pieces on the board she's laid out, Hadrian is a reader and an avid people watcher. He occasionally sneaks into town under the cover of darkness and in disguise, mostly because he's found no one particularly pays attention to him that way.

I'm open to any and all lines. Would love to find him a romantic interest among the courtly knights and elven ambassadors and whoever else stops by the capital. Also, courtiers to have snippy conversations with, please.

And if anyone's thinking of bringing in the crown prince, that would be aces.

Third time is the charm! I'll be the odd duck out as I've only got one character in the mix (thus far, at least), and that's Jo here, who wasn't the most exciting character in the bunch for quite some time. She spent most of her life on a farm trying to help her parents get by. She spent most of her time in markets trying to sell their fruits and vegetables to people, her parents under the assumption that as the younger, prettier member of the family, that she could maybe charm more money out of people than anyone else could.

When she realized that just selling a bunch of produce was only going to get the family so far, especially with seasons sometimes being as fickle a thing as they are, Josephine eventually learned how to sew and tried selling handmade dresses as well. When that didn't work, she occasionally resorted to stealing, as she found she had a real knack for blending in to the shadows and going unnoticed by most people.

Except assassins. Who eventually recruited her. For the past five years, she's been working as a for-hire killer with a specialty in plant based poisons, which her parents are 110% completely unaware of. She started off in a group, but she's gone solo as she finds it's easier to make money that way. She's gotten a bit colder over the years, tends to keep most people at an arm's length, and has almost no loyalties to anyone except for who can pay her the most money.

Oh! And she still sews, so she can mend your clothes if you ever find the need.

muireall
I'll be second, even though I haven't apped yet! Today I'll stop being lazy and try to do a bit of actual bio writing. I've got two already, and will eventually have a third, probably.

First is Muireall, an elf adept who is the niece of ~sylndrile and therefore elf royalty. At a very young age, she decided that it was better to be underestimated, and so she has always been known as the ditzy, flighty, girlish type with no interest in politics. This was all acceptable to her family up until the moment she decided that she didn't want anything to do with her potential suitors once she came of age, and up and ran off, and now she's something of a pariah within the elf community. For the past few years, she has been traveling around having adventures and getting to know as many different races and types of people as she can. She feeds intel on all of her travels back to her uncle, because despite outward appearances she's a shrewd girl who has every intention of someday returning home and becoming the next leader of the elves. She fairly frequently travels with ~fenshore and sometimes crosses paths with ~sonnetist. She's not really much of a fighter, but she's plenty content to sit back and watch while other people do the hard work on that front. She rarely (if ever) drops the girlish front because it's second nature to her now, and so anyone who wants to see past that exterior will likely have to have a long-term relationship with her.

Secondly I have [info]raghnaid, who's your resident embittered half-elf pirate. She's the bastard child of the former Lord of Banner House #3, although the title has now passed to his eldest legitimate child, even though she is technically his firstborn. She was allowed to be a part of the family for the first few years of her life, but was cast out once the legitimate heir was born and left to fend for herself. Needless to say, her upbringing was fairly rough and she was living on the streets more often than not, although there were one or two sympathetic people (either members of her house or people working there) who helped her out when circumstances were dire. Eventually, she took up with a pirate captain who spirited her away from a potential future as a tavern wench and made her a part of his crew. Once she'd learned all she felt she could learn from him, she abandoned their crew to find one which better suited her, and she has stuck to a life of piracy ever since, drifting from ship to ship. For a time she had a ship and a crew of her own, but she lost it in a card game and has been attempting to save up the money to buy herself another ever since. Her gambling habits, however, tend to make saving a bit difficult -- not to mention her impulsive temper, which often leads to paying people off in order to avoid trouble. She's of the philosophy that you attack first and ask questions later, which means that most people are on the wrong end of her sword. She and ~shopkeep are half-elf ladypower buds who may eventually seek revenge on their horrible families, and she currently sails with ~isera.

Muireall could use more people she travels with on a regular basis. Maybe there's a much put-upon elf knight who she keeps ditching, even though he's supposed to stick around and guard her royal person? And Raghnaid needs more pirate companions, people who knew her when she was on shore, family members from Banner House #3, and maybe that captain who initially taught her everything she knows (and whom she might've stolen something from upon her exit). Sorry for the spam!

sonnetist
Somebody has to go first, and I guess it's gonna be me. I've app'd two characters, and a third is already in the works, but for this entry, I'll introduce the ones whose concepts are solidified.

This is Ulric. He's a bard, and that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about him if you've read the class description. I can guarantee he's made a poetic pass at every female in the game; their reactions to it are completely up to you. In fact, I welcome and encourage slapping him. He kind of has an ongoing gig as Calpurnia's emissary, spreading the good word of Ostwill among other things throughout the land. His entire family is still alive and kicking (unheard of for a fantasy character, I know) and he's probably fathered a few children he knows nothing about, so please let me know if you want to be somehow related to this idiot.

Next up is Melisende ([info]shopkeep). She's a half-elf cast out by her parents and raised instead by a spinster aunt whose compassion only lasted as long as the government subsidies. After her welcome wore out, she joined a guild of hunters and learned how to track, shoot, mill herbs to create remedies, and craft leather gear. Ultimately, she had to leave them (more info in her bio), but put the skills they taught her to use as a shopkeep. Mel thought quiet, ordinary life as a village NPC would suit her; she was wrong. She recently left her shop under the care of an apprentice to go off in search of whatever is missing in her life. Because that's totally fiscally responsible!

And that's about it. Drop me a comment if you'd like something with either, and I'm looking forward to playing with you all :D
