Subject: Augustin visits Jacques at the embassy.
Where: The French embassy
Who: Augustin Laurent
Warnings: None, except for perhaps some dissing of enemies of the revolution.
Open to: Jacques Belmont

The arrangement detailed in the return letter had been to visit the French embassy, and so it was that on the following morning, Augustin found himself entering the building. London was still a strange and foreign city to him, but by some stroke of luck, finding the place had not been too horrendous a feat, and he arrived at an hour when most aristocrats would still be sound asleep.

Augustin, however, was not most aristocrats. He was an early riser -- indeed, he placed great value in getting up at a sensible hour, finding that his productivity was greatest before lunch -- and a revolutionary with Jacobin leanings and Jacobin friends. Jacques Belmont was one of those friends, although Augustin was, at the moment, slightly more interested in seeing a familiar face than discussing similar ideologies.

"I am here to see Jacques Belmont," he told the footman, smoothing a hand over his chest in what was becoming an unconscious gesture, as though by pressing down on his cravat, he could will himself to heal. "Augustin Laurent; we have an appointment," he added, and was led into an office, a pleased smile emerging as he saw his friend.

"Citoyen," began the footman, "this man here says you are expecting him?"
