Warnings? What does the future hold?

Padma felt a little ashamed of herself when she retreated to her favorite corner in Flourish & Blott's with Aster Song's latest - the original English and a German translation, as she missed the language - only to suffer quiet indignation at the nook's having been transformed into a magazine lounge, inspired by the recent influx of Muggle culture. Flourish & Blott's was meant to be a proper bookshop; what next, music spheres and greeting cards?

Still, she was overreacting, and balked at the thought of being anything less than open minded when it came to cultural change. That there was talk of football outside of Quality Quidditch Supplies, or Guinness served at the Leaky Cauldron was of no concern whatsoever, and perhaps healthy cross-cultural exchange. That her books were not off limits perturbed but did not surprise, not really.

And so she stood a little lost, books in hand, her grimace at a particularly graphic animation on the cover of a magazine pronounced upon her delicate features.

Sarah tucked her hands in her pockets as she walked along Diagon. Though it was still several weeks from Christmas, it was starting to get chilly and she was peeved at herself for leaving her gloves at home this morning.

Hoping to escape from the shop and Madam M's mounting holiday craziness for a little bit on her lunch break, she headed into Flourish and Blotts to do a little browsing...and, if she were lucky, get a head start on her Christmas shopping.

Not seeing anything terribly eye-catching in the front of the shop, she'd just moved towards the back to see if there were any new books on Wizarding photography when she spotted a familiar head of dark hair near the new magazine section.

Padma had such a look on her face that Sarah inadvertently chuckled. Ambling up to the other witch she offered up a sympathetic smile.

"I know...it's a bit much, isn't it?" she nodded at the magazine Padma was looking at, and gazed at it herself for a moment before turning back to Padma. "How've you been? It seems like ages since you came to our book and bake."

Padma's expression brightened considerably when she recognized Sarah, nodding at the witch's commiseration.

"Ancient Rome, at least," she teased, far more willing to take a seat in the magazine lounge now that she would have company. She supposed that was a fine thing, at least, that conversation would be expected in such a place.

"I've started and stopped ten books, I think."

"Oh no," Sarah laughed. "It was the Paleozoic...it must have been."

She strolled along the magazine rack, looking briefly at some of the more lurid covers with amusement before plucking the latest Quidditch Weekly off the top shelf and glancing at the moving photo of the roaring Falcons fans. Hmph. If they were playing the Harpies, it'd have been a different story...

Sinking into a soft armchair in the corner furthest from the magazine racks, Sarah sighed. "I've been so run off my feet with work I've barely been able to get through the one. Miss Austen would be scandalized at how I'm neglecting the fruits of her labor."
