Tonks listened intently, watching Lupin as he spoke of his friends' betrayal. "Maybe," she said carefully, "Power would make sense. From what Sirius told me he did seem like.. Well, the Shaggy of the group." Remembering she was letting a childhood of Muggle television at her gran's show through, Tonks went on quickly, "Well, you know. James was the looks, you were the brains, Sirius was the brawn- but please dear Merlin don't let him know I said that- Pettigrew was the.. Plus One, if you will. Maybe he just had an inferiority complex."
She watched him with growing amusement as he took a biscuit, and another, and another, until she just couldn't help herself and she laughed. "Shapeshifter thing or a remarkable sweet tooth? I keep telling my friend I don't mean to close down all those delis and chip shops and that she should try changing her entire body one time and see how famished she gets but she never quite seems to believe me."
Her eyes went wide when he offered her the list and Tonks took it eagerly, her expression brightening with enthusiasm, "This is perfect, thank you. This is the closest we've had to a lead in weeks! And it's a hell of a lot better than laying out some mousetraps and cheese and crossing out fingers!" Tonks looked at the list up and down, again and again, almost trying to memorise each and every place and address listed, "I'll see if I can get it to Kingsley. Scrimgeour's great but because of how high up he is he's got more of the whole.. Bureaucratic nonsense to deal with. Kingsley can go straight to the field. I'd have asked Lily but with everything that's going on.." Tonks shook her head, still beaming as finally the opportunity to do something actually useful presented itself, "Cor, Lupin, this is fabulous, thank you! I'll do my best to make sure this gets to the right people." She had to make a conscious effort to sober up, clearing her throat and trying to remind herself that she was meant to be a bloody professional, not a thirteen year old girl at a Wyrd concert, "And yeah, you'll be the first to know if I find out what's going on in the Ministry. Save for Kingsley and Lily.. And Scrimgeour.. and Proudfoot.. and Savage and Moody and-- ...Okay so maybe I'm not the best for this, but save for at least them, I don't know who to trust anymore. It's like the times of the First War and the old Order are all gone now and you never know where people stand," She laughed then although it was bitter, "I wonder if it was easier then when people literally tattooed which side they were on onto their arms."
