Hermione regarded the broom as though it might attack her; ever since the day the broom had steadfastly refused to meet her hand in class, and she'd watched Neville whip around like a ragdoll and then fall several stories to the ground, she'd feared brooms.
But Ron swore she'd be okay, and she SHOULD learn, cause the 'brightest witch of her generation' shouldn't be afraid of any magical object.
She took his hand gingerly - no pun intended - and mounted the broom the way she'd seen the boys and Ginny do. If Gin could do this, so could she.
