A party, just when we need it most Who: Remus, Sirius, and invited guests What: Housewarming party When: Evening Where: Remus and Sirius' flat Warnings: Likely Pg-13 (language and drinkin'!)
The flat was finally ready. Remus was moved into the sunny room in the back and had charmed the paint on his walls a nice brown to match his green quilt. His very comfortable (abet slightly ratty) arm chair was placed with care among Sirius' couch, coffee table, and other living room accoutrements. There was a place cleared especially for the new television. While Sirius spent the week at Hogwarts minding his classes, Remus tidied up the place and fixed the leaky kitchen sink. The home was now presentable, if a bit mis-matched and bachelor-chic.
Thursday afternoon, after his early shift at Flourish and Blotts, Remus was working on a letter to the French Ministry's "Division des Animaux Magique" when an owl arrived with Sirius' copy of the Daily Prophet. And there, on the cover, was the shocking story of Peter's faked death. Setting down the paper with a detached toss aside, Remus made himself a cup of tea. Tea was a good distraction. This was not happening.
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to have a party...not if all these high-profile people involved in the War were going to be in the same place. Then again, maybe it was the best thing to do. A party was what they needed most.
And so, he dove into reading the place. He went to the market and bought food. He baked some cookies (even if he burnt a few...), mixed up some punch, and hung a few photos on the walls of the living room as finishing touches.
It was nearing party time and Sirius wasn't home yet. Remus figured he was out personally tracking down Peter himself....or more likely, he was at the liquor store.
And so, he settled himself in his armchair and waited for the doorbell to ring.
