Looking for answers Who: King Willem and other npcs What: Muse about the spreading plague Where: In the palace When: After dinnertime Rating: G
King Willem was displeased. There was a plague spreading through his domain, the source of which he could not determine. His consort Kalea could not either, and worse, after using her talents, she had become exposed, and infected. She had removed herself from Willem's presence so he would not contract the illness. Always thinking of the domain, he thought, his mouth set into a hard line. She was right to do so, for the sake of his rule, but he missed her company.
He called his advisers, and most importantly, his wizard. After careful and extremely cautious study, there came one concrete conclusion. The plague was no natural disease. It had been cultivated, created with the specific design to attack talents. The question was, who created it, and for what express purpose.
Willem sat on his throne, his eyes hard and his thoughts racing. Isolda sat nearby, thankfully untouched by the plague. If Willem had lost his source of power, he couldn't use his beguiling as he was accustomed to doing. In fact, if he'd contracted the illness...he'd repulse everyone.
Well, at least he knew why the disease was in his domain. All he needed now was to know who had caused it. But first, he had to serve his people, and that meant finding a cure. He set his wizard to that task. If corrupted healing talent only made the illness worse, then perhaps a talent meant to harm, likewise corrupted, would cure all.
Answers first, and then he could spread the cure about. And after...he would find the one who had caused it all.
