    The sun shone low in the sky in the early morning air over the blue water and the lush grass. Not very many people were out and Astoria stood away from most as she stared into the water her mind lost in thought. She was not sure how to feel about what had happened on the train. She had not been target and she easily avoided the conflict, they had gone straight for their targets. It was sad though, they were just children. Astoria believed in blood purity as she was expected to, but this experience made her think about those beliefs.

     

    She sighed and picked up a small stone and flung it across the surface. Astoria watched as it landed and fell straight down

    His Death Eaters had been sending him whispers of rumours of those long dead returning for about a week before he had gotten a confirmed report from one of them in the Department of Mysteries. At that time, he learned they weren't returned from the dead, but from a time in the past before his defeat by the infant Harry Potter. There wasn't a way to predict exactly who would come, he was told, but many had come, some who had since died, and some who had not. Voldemort demanded a full list, and as soon as it was put together, it was delivered, along with the location of all the 'visitors,' as they were being called, which was the Leaky Cauldron. Easily accessible and out in the open, the place was perfect for an attack. He called his Death Eaters to him, to inform them of their task, and waited, hoping his most loyal would be the first to arrive.

    Everything was set, and the plan was put into motion. Their instructions were simple: Get to the Leaky Cauldron and injure as many people as they could, kill at least one visitor who was still alive in 1996, and capture Lily Potter. The latter was assigned to Bellatrix Lestrange herself, the others merely told to assist by means of a diversion. The Dark Lord didn't care how they took her, just that she be alive when they did. He wasn't sure he wanted to kill her just yet, or even if ending her unborn child's life would rid him of the meddlesome Harry Potter in the present day. No, he didn't want her dead because she may yet prove to be useful, perhaps as a bargaining tool to get at her son; he was surely foolish and 'brave' enough to want to trade his own life for hers, should it come to that, and that was what Voldemort was hoping for. He sent his Death Eaters off from the house of his father at the appointed time, and awaited their return anxiously.

    THE DAILY PROPHET
    Brockdale Bridge Collapses, Killing 12




    The Brockdale Bridge in Central London was intentionally damaged Friday evening, causing a collapse that has so far killed a dozen Muggles. While no witches or wizards were harmed in the collapse, this is the first public act of violence against the Muggle population that the Death Eaters have committed since the confirmation of You-Know-Who's return a month ago.

    This follows a disturbing trend of Muggles picking up on the news of the Wizarding World, as was seen last week with the murders of Amelia Bones and Emmeline Vance. Newly-appointed Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour released a statement late last evening assuring the wizarding community that the Statute of Secrecy is still firmly in place, and that any leaks from the Wizarding World were being handled with great care.
