HOORAY HOORAY IT'S ME IT'S ME. me being maddie. and this is kevin sidney, also known as morph. your characters can call him either, since he's actually one of the few chars in the game that have their canon codename established ~in their life~.
the tl;dr version of morph's powers are the following: complete omnimorph (to shift into anything imaginable, including inanimate objects. in his non morphed form, he looks a bit like a man made of putty, and if startled (really startled), he goes alex mack on your ass and falls into a puddle. he spends most of his time in the form you see in his icon, which is a slightly improved version of his old self. he can also fly (random!) and has no discernible scent whatsoever. animal-types? you can't smell him. this may be disorienting.
here is some more about him: grew up in PA, lost his mother to lung cancer, was sent to boarding school in cali, spends a lot of time making jokes, uses nicknames for people, is rarely serious, love love loves beautiful girls (and the occasional beautiful boy), was in contact with, visiting or living in the hotel from early 05 to august 06, just graduated from MIT, studied computers, pretty much came out as a mutant when he saw warren's press conference.

- Just a reminder that activity checks are resuming, and will be done at the end of the month! As a reminder, the expectations are -
At the very least, we should be seeing a journal post/comment activity OR a log from each character once a month. Private/filtered posts do not count towards activity. Activity checks will be done once a month, around the 25th. You get a warning then, and if you don't pick up your game over the next month, then you'll be asked to drop the character. If I find you are consistently do the bare minimum for your character without reason, you will also be given a warning. If you are consistently posting for your characters within the last few days of the month, you will receive a warning. - You all should have received an email about an upcoming plot, please make sure you respond to it!
- We've had a few character drops, and I thought I would update everyone on their status.
• Brian Braddock, as shown on screen, has returned to England to continue to look for Jamie Braddock.
• Paige Guthrie has decided to move out of the hotel, and has found an apartment closer to UCLA.
• Jenny Stavros has accepted a job at a casino in Las Vegas - to be mentioned on screen.
• Mark Sheppard has accepted a job at a nightclub in New York.
• Kiden Nixon has wandered off again.
• Lani Ubanu, Sharon Smith, Laurie Collins and Shiro Yoshida have been retconned out of the game.

| PLOT NOTICE. |

The plot we've been posting about is set to begin tomorrow! The fight threads will go up Sunday evening.
However, just because you don't have a character involved in the fight doesn't mean you can't participate! We've made the decision to not pause the game for the sake of keeping things moving. Therefore, feel free to act as though the game is continuing in real time, and have your characters update as such (although you won't know all the details of the fight until the threads are finished, of course.)
Here are some things to update about:
1) In the initial stages of attack, your character will hear/witness the following:
About 3 minutes prior to the attack, the STEPFORDS pick up on the danger, and send a telepathic warning to the entire Hotel. This will be communicated by posting a "telepathic call" in ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) mutanthaven. Any character can mentally respond to the Stepfords' message (or freak out about it on the journals!), but the Security Team's acknowledgment of the danger will be especially important.
BLACK MAMBA rushes out to make her escape--just as the SERPENT SQUAD teleports in front of her. SECURITY plus VOLUNTEERS gather behind her, ready to take on the unknown adversaries.
1) If your character is watching the fight in its beginning and middle stages, they'll see the following groups fighting amongst each other:
- GROUP A: SIDEWINDER versus CYCLOPS, HAVOK, and VIVISECTOR.
- GROUP B: VIPER versus BLACK MAMBA, DIAMOND LIL, and DEADPOOL.
- GROUP C: EEL versus GAMBIT, ICEMAN, and JUBILEE.
- GROUP D: COBRA versus NIGHTCRAWLER, COLOSSUS, and LONGSHOT.
- GROUP E: ASP versus SHATTERSTAR, AURORA, and WOLFSBANE.
There's going to be some bloodshed, a TON of blows landed, and--eek--a Deadpool dismemberment. Yes, you read that right. Deadpool is getting dismembered, by Viper. Your character will also notice Remy's powers getting out of control, and both Josh Foley and Rogue moving into the fight when conditions are right.
2) If your character's entry takes place after the fight, here's a brief rundown of how things will look:
- Thanks to Cessily's protection, the Hotel will not have suffered any damage.
- There WILL be injuries. Very notably, Rogue will be unconscious and undergoing telepathic assessment.
- All of the Serpent Squad members, save for Viper, will have escaped via teleportation. Viper will be dead (it's really gross and gory), and chillin' on the ground below.
- Josh will be actively using his healing abilities on those who need them. |

We're currently grouping characters together for the fight briefly described in this post. If you have a Security Team member, we've assumed (unless you've told us otherwise) that they'll be involved. In the meantime, if anyone else has a non-Security character they'd like to involve, this is your final call! We don't want the threads to get out of hand, but obviously we'd like to give people a chance to participate if they're still sitting on the fence about it.
Before the fight begins, a post will go up with the assigned groups. In the meantime, you might have noticed a cluster of new NPCs. Before you tag into the fight with your character, however, you might find it helpful to ( read a little more about them, and what they do. )
Stay tuned. ;D If you plan to establish your character's absence, we recommend you do it within the next 1-2 days. |

| INTRODUCTION OF FRESH MEAT. |

Hey everybody! I am Cassie (![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) wentsch and a newbie to game, as I've brought in the first of my characters (and hopefully more): Meggan Puceanu.
Meggan's basic story is this: She was born and raised in England, living in a cramped camper that she shared with her two older siblings and her parents. She eventually left them and stayed with a friend's grandmother, and this is where she stays now. She is affable and almost overbearingly friendly. She shape-shifts emapathically and has control over the elements. The Vale Sisters will be bringing Meggan to California sometime soon, at which point she'll be all up in this hotel and getting her freedom on.
I'd like to see who has characters who can be friends with Meggan and who could help her find a place to stay, and to find people who don't like her and think she needs to stop drinking the happy juice, etc. COME AT ME! AIM is whurrwolves :) |

Hello, Havenites!
For the next couple of weeks, a plot will be set into motion, culminating in an attack taking place outside the Hotel/in the reception area. The Security Team will respond to and subdue the threat, but if the fight looks bad, we’re sure certain characters in the reception area/able to see the fight would rush out to help!
This plot is going to involve a fight log with multiple threads, so for our sanity (and yours!) please volunteer no more than one character. If you already have a character on the Security Team, consider not involving another character at all. Characters will be assigned to “fighting groups” to keep everything tidy in the threads.
Finally, if you have a non-Security character who’s especially powerful, we ask that you give them a reason not to be involved in the fight—i.e., they’re away from the Hotel at the time. We don’t want the fight to end that quickly.

She has mostly been sticking exclusively to her room, but other residents might have caught quick glimpses of her in the hallways. Since she is always in her full traditional dress, she does sorta stick out. |

This post will require EVERYONE to comment with information of some kind, so please do so at your earliest convinience.
ONE: Could everyone please comment with a) the education and/or b) the employment status of your character. If they are still at school, please comment with the institution and what year they are about to start. If they are not, please comment with the most recent schooling experience they have had (high school drop out, high school graduate, if they've been tutored at the hotel, ETC). If they are working, please comment with their job!
TWO: PLEASE check your character's wiki page. If there is anything missing or incorrect, please update it. If you can not update it yourself, please comment here with the missing information so someone else can. If your character does not have a wiki page, please comment here so we can remedy that, preferably with the appearance details as requested.
THREE: If you are wiki-savvy and have some time on your hands, please feel free to help out updating things! It would help me out a great deal!
FINALLY: As of September 1st, activity checks will start again! Which means the first one will be happening at the END of the month, at some point between the 28th and 30th. As a reminder -

Hey guys, I am going to be a bit scarce the next month and half thanks to work. So, to explain why my characters aren't around a much here we are:
Angelica: Getting ready for college, busy, etc.
Heather: IDK, Ash, would she and Davis be doing stuff? Plus being in security keeps her busy.
Sid: Probably bumming around, being a pain in the ass and slut, you know.
Kiden: Is AWOL.
Tatiana: Working and taking evening classes for to make up for the last year, so she's busy and will be entering high school in the fall as a senior. I forgot she's 17 now...
Shiro: Being a rich bastard and riding in helicopters, and on boats with his flippy floppies.

JULIE HAS PICKED UP A SECOND CHARACTER. And it's a girl! I haven't done an intro at MH since October 2008 (HAHAHAHA OH MY GOD), but here I am! I'm also back from my week-long Comic Con hiatus (in which I got to chill with Nat & Nikki, mmtz mmtz), so it's back to business.
So more to the point: this here is Amara Aquilla (Magma!), a rich & sheltered Brazilian freshman starting at UCLA in the fall. She's been home-tutored all of her life and has had very few friends, so she's excessively formal and doesn't do very well with peers, but will be slowly learning how to acclimatise. There's going to be a lot of culture shock, needless to say. Amara's proud, hot-tempered, quite spoiled and arrogant, plus all noble and upright and shit -- basically the polar opposite of Wade. Her new exodus to the United States, though she's currently staying with an uncle in L.A., was the result of intense cabin fever and wanting to learn more about the outside world. Check out her profile for more!
She hasn't experienced her (extremely volatile!) mutant powers yet, so her IC introduction to the community is dependent on someone discovering her at UCLA freshman orientation, probably with Amara losing her temper & activating. Any takers? |

Hahaha.
Okay no seriously, that lingerie campaign Betsy did the shoot for a while ago ought to have launched a week or so ago, but mainly due to me spending a week tripping on painkillers and being a misery guts I'm belated with this! It doesn't really effect anyone directly but since the 9th of July posters/billboards and magazine ads (plus a full spread of all the shots and an article on Stella McCartney in ELLE this month) have been going up around the US.
Based on the actual Stella McCartney line that Kim Noorda posed for, haha there are examples here and here.
It is a lingerie shoot so use your discretion? That sounds so creepy, but it's not. I'm being very British aren't I?

Uh, so yeah, as mentioned in Jubes' post, it's her birthday today! But the party is tomorrow because a) everything is better on Saturday, and b) I'm at work so I can't really do anything. I don't have anything specific planned, but apparently Ali is getting her strippers, awesome. Obviously there will be alcohol and enough candy to choke a small third world country, but if any of you want to use the party as an excuse to do something ~*~crazy~*~, feel free! Jubilee will be jumping off the roof into the pool like a golden god, naturally. |

hello pussycats! just as a heads up- a little handwaving here, but cess has been working as hotel cleaning lady to make cash since (probs) a little after she got to the hotel. she does a good job, makes weekly and monthly reminders about helping out and come on if you pee on the toilet seat please clean it up >:( and such. not that this is big important info for any reason and now i feel like this fyi is kind of silly BUT THERE WE ARE. |

Heeeeey guys, hey!
Sarah here, goldendoc's player. Finally bringing some different faces to the game!
Firstly, I've picked up Ali Blaire, aka Dazzler. She's got a new face, as you can probably see, but her history is largely the same as it has always been. However, since I haven't always been around in the game, please tell me if you have backplot/history with her! I know about a lot of it, but not all, and I'd love to honor all current and past relationships.
Basically, my Ali is incredibly outgoing and gregarious -- she's obviously been living in the hotel for quite a while, and she's pretty much 100% okay with being a mutant. In fact, she's pretty much 100% okay with everything about herself: Ali is her own biggest fan. She loves to talk about herself, to look at herself, and she loves hanging out with people who realize how freaking great she truly is. In other words, she's got a bit of an ego problem. For the most part, she's friendly enough -- she's happy to party with anyone and everyone, just so long as you show her a good time.
In completely opposite news, I'd also like to introduce Sooraya Qadir mashaallah, aka Dust. She is not actually at the hotel yet; she is currently being held by the U.S. mercenaries in Afghanistan. But needless to say, she'll be arriving at the hotel soon! When she does, she'll be pretty freaked out, but I'd love to have her get to know some people if you think your character might reach out to her. Her history and personality are in her profile, but basically she's a very religious, very serious individual who cares about her friends and about doing what's right.
That's enough tl;dr for now! I am super excited to start playing both of them! |

So, as I mentioned a week or so ago, I have recruited some co-mods! Elena, Kati and Zo have all been crazy wonderful enough to agree to come on board to help me out with things, so you'll come across them helping out with things around the place!
Hopefully the only change you will notice is more things happening, in a smoother and more timely manner! Any questions, queries, plot requests and complaints still need to go through the mod email, and will be handled by the mod group as a whole, rather than just me.
And just as a reminder - in a week, I will be leaving the country! And spending 3.5 weeks in the US. I'm sure you all know this by now, but it does mean my lovely co-mods will be looking after things while I am gone! Quite a few of you I have spoken to about getting some plot stuff underway while I am gone, please don't forget, and please feel free to contact the mod email if you have any issues! I will still be floating around on occasion, but obviously not all that much. :D
