What: Halloween Party!
When: Halloween Night, 8pm-3am
Where: Mandalay Bay Ballroom
Who: Everyone's invited!
Warnings: Language, Potentially Scary Situations, Horror Related Things

Welcome to the Mandalay Bay Halloween Party!

Costumes are not mandatory but are strongly encouraged. If you need a costume at the last minute, never fear! Visit our costume shop in the the Mandalay mall. Everything 75% off!

The ballroom features a wide dance floor and DJ. The floor is surrounded by small, intimate tables and, at the far end of the room, is a large buffet covered in Halloween themed foods ranging from candy and sweets to pumpkin soup and blackened chicken. Along both walls are long bars with several bartenders. Drinks and food are absolutely free!

At 9:00, a chime will sound. At that time, anyone who purchased their costumes from the Mandalay Costume shop will find themselves taking on the aspects of that costume. They will not find this strange. They have ALWAYS been a princess, a soldier, a wolfman...

In her dreams, on occasion, Ella had been to balls. She had worn magnificent dresses, fit for princesses, and she had danced under a thousand candles in a room that looked as though it might be floating on air. Though she knew it foolish to hope for such a thing in this strange place, her heart swelled at the very idea as she slipped into the beautiful dress she'd purchased just a few days prior with Peggy.

Ella liked Peggy. She reminded her of her mother in so many ways, and it was such a comfort to be with her.

The dress was finer than anything she'd ever worn, and with her hair in curls and her skin glowing, she definitely felt like a princess as she stepped into the ballroom. Though it was darker than the ballrooms of her dreams, and perhaps less magical, nothing could dampen her spirits.

Rebekah moved into the ballroom, dressed in her very flapper finest. It was far more glamorous than most of the costumes in the costume shop. What had happened to hinting at sex, not stating it outright?

As luck would have it, though, she found a Daisy Buchanan costume that suited her perfectly. Of course as she stepped into the room, a rather wide skirt brushed against her.

"Oh let me guess...fairy princess."

Joy at being there, in all her glory, in a dress fit for a queen, swelled up inside Ella and she very nearly gave a little twirl. She was only brought up short by the voice of a woman appearing suddenly at her side. She hoped she hadn't bumped into her with her skirt.

"Um...No...I...Well I rather thought just princess was enough for an evening." Ella glanced down at her fine gown, smoothing the blue fabric with her hands, feeling suddenly foolish for reasons she could not put her finger on. The woman who had spoken looked glamorous and lovely in a way that Ella was certain would have looked out of place on her. But perhaps the opposite was true. She did stand out in her finery. Maybe she should have chosen something less ostentatious. The happy swell in her chest deflated ever so slightly.

"Your costume is so lovely," she tried, giving the woman a wide smile.

Perhaps she'd been too brusque but then that was Rebekah in a nutshell. Too many years spent in the viper's nest that was her family. Anyone too innocent and naive was someone to be regarded with scorn. Though she could, perhaps, make exception for another girl.

"I used to dress like this all the time. And here it's been relegated to a costume." The passage of time or some such rot. "Your dress is...beautiful." There was no denying it.

Ella smoothed the blue fabric again, a bit nervously, but she smiled. "Thank you. When I saw it in the shop window, I thought it was the sort of thing only a royal might wear. But seeing as tonight is supposedly about coming as you're not..." She trailed off with a little smile.

"Are you from another time as well?" she asked, curiously.

"Depends on the century, I suppose," Rebekah mused, looking the gown over. "Though I suppose you're right. I've seen a few princesses wearing something similar." Perhaps not quite as well as this girl.

Rebekah hesitated before answering the girl's question. "I....have experienced a lot of different times," she allowed.

Ballroom - 8:00 - Kara and Matt

The skirt was a bit short but then, she supposed, that was probably the point. She considered the fact that she was here at all, at a party, in a costume, with a friend, to be a minor victory of sorts. This was something normal people did, but it was more than that. Matt knew, and he still treated her like a person. Still wanted to spend time with him. For that she was going to be eternally grateful. Or, at the very least, grateful until the day her battery finally shut down for good.

But she didn't want to think about that just now.

The costumes were silly but fun. She'd picked them out largely because they went with her short hair. While she wasn't averse to wigs, she felt they might impede the fun. Her dress and Matt's suit had been labeled as "Gatsby" and "Daisy" but she didn't think they really had much in common with what she knew of actual 1920's clothing. But still.

As they walked into the room, she gave a little twirl, setting the flared edge of her sack dress spinning and the long rope of pearls around her neck swinging, giving Matt a smile.

"I may have to dress like this more often. It's certainly more fun than jeans."

He had foregone the folding cane tonight. The medical device was part of his cover story but it also spoiled the illusion of the Gatsby costume. Gatsby was suppose to exude the veneer of perfection. Since he didn’t need the cane so he might as well take advantage of the excuse the Gatsby costume offered. Besides he wanted tonight to be a good night. Kara was so excited about the party. After the past month they all really needed something that was good. Something to enjoy just for the sake of enjoyment and maybe something just a little bit silly.

He had his arm looped through Kara’s. The better to act as though he was just your perfectly normal resident blind man who somehow managed to keep surviving the problems this little trap could conjure for them. The party already had the effect he had hoped for Kara was clearly enjoying herself, in what was an era-appropriate gesture. He wondered if he had access to that information or was it something that she had to glean from other information.

Not the time to ask questions like that though, instead he started them in the direction of the drinks, “So, are we going to win the costume party?”

The question brought on a bubble of laughter. Wouldn't that be just the thing? But she shook her head, only remembering belatedly that he's not supposed to be able to see her. She hoped it was a common enough mistake that no one would notice and question. Why would they? She was being overly paranoid perhaps.

"I doubt it. We're not even the only 20's denizens at this party." Most of the other 20's style costumes were pure flapper, and highly inaccurate if she was any judge. The skirts were far too short for one thing, and the cleavage way too pronounced. "But you look amazing, so maybe."

It had been far too tempting, really, to go Victoria Secret angel for the evening. A corset. Some stockings. Fruity wings. She did so love making poor Castiel's eyes bug out of his head when she walked into a room. But, in the end, she'd decided that the irony was more amusing than his reactions, which she could get later in a much more convenient location anyway. In the end, unsatisfied with most of the dresses available, she'd simply bought the wings and pieced together the rest of the outfit herself.

She gave Cas a smile as the entered the room, but her attention was elsewhere at least for the moment. There was a pang of disappointment when she realized the Winchesters weren't there. What, they had something better to do? What was the fun of going out in something this ridiculous if she couldn't watch Dean turn a little purple? Oh well...perhaps later they'd take a joyride in his car to make up for the disappointment.

The mask was somehow felt heavy against his face. While the horns did extend rather far from the mask the material was light even if his body had a few complaints about the foreign object he had tied onto his face. The mask would cause some sweat too he felt certain by the way his skin seemed to itch in demand of air, but not yet.

The rest of his outfit was more comfortable because it was familiar. Meg had gotten him what she called a well-cut suit. The fit was tighter than what he had worn but not uncomfortable. The colors were darker than his last suit, the better to play the shadowy demon. Meg thought he looked more than acceptable which made any discomfort only fair. Meg looked far better the white the entire outfit making the shadow beneath her skin stand out even more. He placed his hand on her wrist the wings made it difficult to touch her back.

“What are we supposed to do at these parties?”

"Oh the usual," Meg said, with one last glance around at the party before giving him her full attention for what she assumed would be the rest of the night. If there was no Winchester to annoy then there was no reason to deprive herself of the look of him in his suit. Why those boys had never taken him to a decent tailor was beyond her. "Get drunk. Grind on the dance floor. Have sex under a table. Halloween staples." And without further explanation, she dragged him over to the bar and ordered them both stiff drinks. It would take her longer, of course, to reach her limit. Could probably drink most of the liquor in front of them before it happened. But there was something positively endearing about drunk Cas that she absolutely loved.

Damon wasn't really one for these Halloween parties but he couldn't say no to escorting Elena to the party. He would never pass up the opportunity to have Elena as his date.

He arrived in the ballroom, looking over the fellow attendees and the decor. he was dressed in a suit as Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. He Didn't see Elena in the ballroom so he went over to the bar and asked for a drink. When the bartender handed it to him, he took a sip as he leaned against the bar, waiting patiently for his date to arrive.

Getting anywhere in a corset and hoops was beyond difficult. It really was a wonder that anyone managed to get anywhere with their movements so restricted. Or, at least, restricted compared to the modern clothing Elena was used to. But she had liked the idea of dressing in one of the fabulous dresses from Gone with the Wind.

In an effort to appear more like Scarlet O'Hara, she'd curled her hair, parted in the middle and tied back with green ribbons, just as it was in the movie. Finally arriving, she had to squish her skirts together to get through the door. Gaze scanned the room before she caught sight of Damon at the bar.

Smiling, she gave a quick curtsy as their eyes met and then continued on her way. "...Mr. Butler," Elena teased. The period costume suited him. Better than it suited her, she felt. But then again, perhaps she was a bit biased.

Damon was still nursing his drink when he spotted Elena enter the ballroom. He straightened as his eyes met hers and she gave a quick curtsy. She looked absolutely riveting and Damon couldn't take his eyes off of her as she crossed the room.

He gave a bow as Elena approached him. He reached for her hand, kissed the back of it and gave her his devilish smirk. "Miss O'Hara. I'm glad that you could join me."

"You look amazing Elena. I think you should wear this more often." He was really impressed that she could still move under all that weight of the fabric.

Oh she did like the kiss to the back of her hand. Guys didn't do anything like that anymore, though she supposed it was somewhat natural to Damon, given how long he'd been alive.

"Oh I don't think so," Elena answered with a shake of her head. "I don't know how anyone wore this all the time. The corset is one thing but the hoops on top of it... I will be very happy to get this off at the end of the night."

Jarvis entered the ballroom, a bit nervous at his choice of costume. He'd wanted something out of the ordinary, something as far from his normal suit as possible. And yet...now he was regretting that. He was rather uncomfortable in his cowboy costume, complete with chaps, though thank goodness he was wearing jeans underneath them. And who would have thought that spurs were so hard to walk in.

Eyes scanned the room, searching desperately for someone he recognized. Hopefully Ms. Carter.

Peggy had come in moments before, she was dressed as Captain America without the mask, it was a gamble, but she did make the uniform look good.

Her eyes were looking the room over, searching for someone she knew, then settled on Jarvis in full cowboy girl. Peggy chuckled softly, shaking her head, but a smile settled on her lips as she moved to her old friend. "Hello, partner."

"Ms. Carter," he greeted with an awkward nod. "I believe you would have done Mr. Rogers quite proud. And Mr. Stark, as well."

The costume certainly suited her. Few people were as fierce as Agent Carter, after all. Even Captain America.

Natasha decided, last minute, that she was going to go to the Halloween party. She needed something to do in order to distract herself from the realization that James remembered far less about their past than she initially suspected, and figured a party might help provide some levity. Coming up with a costume was the easy part - a blonde wig and the right outfit made her transformation into a glamorous old-school movie star nearly complete - all she needed was a glass of champagne and the appropriate attitude to finish off her look.

While she wasn't sure if she'd know anyone at the party, she was determined to have a good time. Hopefully, circumstances would conspire to let her.
