Entry tags:avi, open, unfinished, vena

Who: Avi Cohen & Vena Brightenton (open to multiple people, if we want)
What: Hanging in the dorm, watching movies and enjoying the peace of having so many people gone
When: Saturday, February 7th around 9 pm
Where: Dorm lounge
Status: Thread - Incomplete

Avi set his stack of DVDs--some documentaries, some dramas, some comedies--on top of the DVD player and set his camera down as well as he started to flip through them. This was great. Normally he had to watch movies on his laptop or in the editing bay in the school building. Sitting on an actual couch... well, it was a treat really. He'd watch almost anything for that. Usually the more assertive people had control of the DVD player, and then when they were out and about, he was out following them with his camera.

Now the question was, what should he watch? He frowned, glancing between several discs. Well, I could stay up all night and watch all of them, right? he considered, glancing up as someone else made their way into the lounge.

Vena hadn't really been expecting to actually turn up to this movie watching event...she wasn't normally the sort who found herself very entertained by a lot of movies. She watched television more often than DVDs, and she read more often that she watched television, movies, or listened to the radio combined. But sometimes she couldn't ignore that nagging little feeling inside her stomach, especially when she was feeling quite restless, and paging through one of her favorite magazines while sitting up straight, with her legs folded, of course, on her bed just wasn't cutting it anymore. It had been quiet for quite sometime now; things seemed to settle down once dinner was over as the students wandered off in pairs or groups, constantly surrounded by their friends, to do whatever it was students did after dinner on the weekends. Vena wouldn't describe herself as "anti-social", per se, but she never really had much of an interest in hurrying after them to see what it was they did. Most of the girls wanted to hang out with the guys, anyway, the loud ones who burped and made filthy jokes and made their ranking as the most powerful animal in the world decrease further and further down the totem pole.

But there she was, frowning and straightening her purple sweater. Her hair was in two braids and she looked about ready to head off to class, not enjoy a relaxing night. It was a bad idea. Or a good idea. Whatever. As long as no one immensely annoying showed up she'd be able to watch whatever movie was playing in peace. And then dissect it, most likely in a not-so-amused way, later.

"Hey," Vena spoke, crossing her arms as Avi came into view. Avi and only Avi. "Am I early?"

"Hey," Avi answered, raising his eyebrows at her and smiling. He was never totally sure what to make of Vena. She wasn't one of the in-your-face-seeking-fame kids, but she also wasn't one of the quiet, content-to-let-everyone-else-shine kids. She was something entirely herself. It was interesting. Not in a film subject way, in a human way--not that she wouldn't be great on film.

"I don't think you're early, exactly," he added. "People had stuff going on, they said they'd show up, trickle in when they got back. I just wanted to stake out the TV and get to enjoying."
