Who: Parker Turner & Joelle
What: Practicing
When: Sunday Afternoon
Where: Practice room
Rating: TBA
Status: Thread | Incomplete

It was the day after another dateless valentine's day, so it was needless to say that Parker was dissappointed. He wished he didn't care so much about the girls at the school, but lately that was all he could think about. His grades were suffering, though for him that only meant A-'s rather than straight A's. The only thing that thrived because of his hormones was his dancing. Girls were the whole reason he'd started, after all and he wanted to be good if only for the fact that it would make a good impression and maybe, just maybe get him laid.

Entering the practice room, Parker proceeded to stretch out, his ipod in his ears, his Ihome and bottle of water in the corner. There was a huge difference in his dancing in class and practicing on his own. On one hand he tried a lot harder in class where people we watching him but he also tended to get very distracted, what with all the girls around with their boobs and legs and asses.

He stood and made his way to his Ihome, popping in his ipod, and pressing play. this song played out as he shook out and began improvising. He really wanted to do Wade Robson choreography to the dance, but first he needed a part. For now, however, he lost himself in the music like he so rarely did with others around. He was better than himself credit for, really. He was so caught up, he didn't hear the other person enter. It wasn't until he looked up and caught sight of them in the mirror that his dancing came to a screeching halt. "Goddamn, you nearly gave me a heart attack!" he said in a friendly, but startled voice.

Joelle bit her lower lip, trying not to laugh at him being so startled. Usually it was her that was interrupted from dancing. It was nice to be on the other side of things for once. "Sorry. I should have said something, but I--you looked so into it," she said softly. She had planned on using the room to practice a tap routine that had struck her over the past week and had been marinating. But then she caught sight of him and had to sneak in and watch him. "It was really good. I don't think I'd ever be able to do something like that," she said with a smile. It was the truth; she was crap at anything that wasn't strictly ballet or tap. She crossed her arms across her chest, unsure if she should just exit the room or stick around for a while and see what would happen.

Parker scratched his head. He was really really trying not to look her up and down, making himself look like a complete creep. He succeeded, but just barely. "Oh come on, now. You're a fantastic dancer." He chewed his lip, averting his eyes. Why did he always get this way around girls. He awkwardly swung his arms before quickly adding: "I mean, I could never tap the way you do." He nodded in agreement to his statement.

He finall got his head clear enough to realize that she was probably in the room for a reason. "Did you... did you need to use the room?" He was praying to God that she might want some kind of help on a ballet routine.

Joelle bit her thumb nail, listening to him as he spoke. She wasn't very open about tap dancing, the so the fact that he had seen it and knew that she let loose that way? Was blush worthy. "It's not the same as this sort of stuff, though. I mean, anything goes with tap...I just don't think I could get my body to move in an expressive enough way," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

She carefully set her bag down. "Well, I was hoping to do a bit of practicing, but...would you be against a private lesson? I mean, if I could get the hang of something like this, then--it'd help my ballet, wouldn't it?" Parker had just helped Joelle to add a new project to her checklist; she wasn't about to let him get away with not helping her perfect it.

"A private lesson?" he asked, eyes widening a little bit. He swallowed. "Yeah, yeah, sure. That's fine." Get a grip, Parker! he told himself. Shaking mentally, he smiled at her. "It's not that hard really. A lot like ballet, but less about technique and more about feeling." He was pretty much repeating what every lyrical and contemporary teacher has ever told him. "Here..." he said, making his way to his iHome and going through his songs. Finally choosing one, he stepped back and began to dance, doing a choreography he'd learned.

Okay, so he couldn't help himself, he was really trying to show off, something that often happened when a female was around. Stopping, he stood up. "So," He was a little out of breath. "You can see that some of the turns and jumps come from ballet, but it's less restricted."

Joelle could tell he was trying to show off, but didn't mind terribly...did she? She wasn't sure. But whenever they got around to the both of them dancing, she was sure he wasn't going to make her do anything terribly complex like that. It was nice to see how his body moved through things. Maybe she could get used to lyrical dancing.

She pulled one arm up and over her shoulder, stretching out her arms as a quick warm up. "So, it's just anything goes, then? Or--you just let yourself move the way the music makes you feel." Emotion. Dancing was probably the only time that she really let the world see how she felt; any other time it was just a matter of making it through the day to day. People didn't need to see how she felt all the time. She wanted to give this a shot. She would probably fail miserably, but--well, if it was all about expression of emotion and feeling, then how could one really fail?

Parker couldn't help but take a glance at her chest while she was stretching, though he quickly looked back up. "Pretty much." he said, standing on his toes and falling back to his heels. He should really be working on his ballet routine for classes, but he pretty much had it down and this was a welcome distraction.

"Go on. Pick a song and do a little somethin'." He sat on his spot on the floor, stretching his calves out and gazing up at her. Why couldn't a completely hideous girl have come asking for help. It would be a hell of a lot easier to focus.

Joelle let out a soft breath, trying to reel in her nerves a bit. She crouched down in front of his iPod to see what he had for her to steal off of. She had no idea what she was really looking for, but she let a few interestingly named songs play for a few seconds to decide if that's what she wanted to use or not. She finally decided on a song before pressing play and then moving back to stand on the floor. "No making fun of me," she said softly, with a smile. She closed her eyes as the music set in before letting herself go and just dance.

After she finished, she bent over at the waist, sucking in a few deep breaths. "God..."she felt tired and amazing all at once.

Parker watched as she danced, his mind held captive by the way her body was moving, and not in a purely sexual kind of way. Sure, he'd always thought watching girls dance was hot, but he tried his damndest to focus on the actual dancing and he was impressed. Not to bad for a beginner was what the arrogant side of him said. "I would never laugh at that, no ma'am. It was better than you gave yourself credit for."

He stood up and stretching his hands over his head and bending, trying to work out kink in his back. Straightening up, he looked at her (and by her, he did a quick, flickering sweep of her body before reaching her face. Damn his hormones). "I'd say you're a natural, Miss Jefferson." he said with a crooked smirk. Maybe if he laid the complements on thick... no. She really was good and he wasn't lying in his complements. He just had to clear his mind a bit before he could comprehend that.

"We should try a duet sometime." he said without thinking. That would involve touching and that idea was very appealing to Parker, but he did honest-to-God love dancing and it seemed like a duet could be... fun? Torturous without a doubt, but fun.

Joelle smiled. "Well, thank you." The adrenaline was still pumping through her system, and she felt on cloud nine at that moment. She pulled her leg back into preparation for a pirouette just so she wouldn't feel too awkward about being there and unsure of what all to say. She pulled her leg up into a double before trying to go for a few fouettes--barefoot and all. Ouch. She stopped after two goes around, her hands moving to tuck back stray hands. "Sorry," she said with a laugh.

"A duet? That'd--that'd actually be pretty awesome!" she grinned. She loved dancing with others; she yearned, more than anything, to just dance pas de deuxs all day. A contemporary duet would certainly be close enough.
