Who: Eleanor and Lavender.
What: Interview for the spot of a writer.
Where: The offices of Miss Witch magazine.
When: Friday, 27th of February. Afternoon. (backdated)
Status: In-progress.

Elle had arrived promptly at one in the afternoon, as she had say, looking not only chic but professional in her final decision of an outfit. Although her pumps felt murderous on her feet, suffering was certainly an unwritten rule of fashion.

She had been instructed to wait for the other blond, situated on one of the many plush chairs with her legs neatly crossed. Frankly, she could have waited a lifetime for this interview. Witch Weekly treated her like a mule, constantly picking at her ideas for articles and her writing style. While she had excessive respect for her fellow employees, she refused to sit in the background, awaiting her final break. Miss Witch itself seemed like a godsend, and had been the type of magazine she dreamed of writing for.

Adjusting her resume and stack of previous articles on her lap, she nodded politely as a woman led her into what she assumed was Lavender's office. She took a seat across from her, beaming widely. "Hello, Lavender. How have you been?"

Lavender sat behind her white desk in her lavender-walled office. She pushed a long strand of blond hair out of her face and smiled as the witch was led inside. "Hello, Elle! I've been wonderful, and you?" Nodding towards the two purple armchairs in front of her, she said, "Please, have a seat." There was a yip from her lap, and Lavender laughed as she lifted up Caramel, her maltipoo puppy. Shaking her head, Lavender leaned over and placed the puppy back down in her plastic playpen in the corner, where she was surrounded by toys. Smiling at Eleanor, Lavender added, "Don't mind Caramel. She comes everywhere with me."

"I'm fine, thanks! You look great." She wasn't using false flattery, though she was certain it may have seemed that way. In her eyes, Lavender had always been an attractive girl, and now she had grown into a gorgeous woman. It was easy to determine why so many blokes would have went bonkers over her during their school years together. At the sound of a yip, she nearly jumped ten inches in her chair until the puppy was lifted up into the air. "She seems too tiny to be so ferocious," she commented with a smile, sliding her folders onto the desk and smoothing out her pencil skirt. "I'm shocked that you even have job openings! You seem to be getting more and more readers each day."

Lavender laughed as she replied, "Well Caramel likes to think she's a lot bigger than she is."

The comment about Miss Witch's growing amount of readers made Lavender grin widely. "And that's exactly why we need more writers!" She exclaimed happily. "Originally, one of our fashion writers was writing our beauty columns as well, but she's decided to focus more on fashion to give it her best attention, and so I'm in need of a Beauty writer now."

Beauty and fashion were Eleanor's forte. For years, she had been captivated by the designers displayed on Muggle editorials and the constant wizarding billboards now displayed in Diagon Alley. While she didn't quite obtain the skill to join the league of design ala Su Li, she certainly did have an eye for anything glamorous, and had thus set to work on creating or altering beautification charms for witches like herself and Lavender.

"Well, I suppose I can thank her for that! Beauty articles are right up my alley." She shifted through her assorted files, pulling out her rather lengthy resume, alongside various articles and a list of said charms. As she slid them forward, she quipped, "Here, you can take a look at these. Not all of them are perfect, but I've been trying my damned best to get them there."

Lavender took the papers with interest and began skimming through them in silence. After several minutes of quiet, she pointed to one of the articles and exclaimed, "Oh, I remember this one! 'How to Bewitch a Bloke in Ten Days', that one was brilliant." The smile stayed on her face as she continued to skim over the other articles, several of which she remembered reading in Witch Weekly (she had to keep up with the competition after all). After a while, she set the papers down and met Elle's eyes again. "Well you certainly have plenty of experience in different sorts of jobs. I like that, though, variety can be a good thing." She paused, glancing down at the articles and then back at Elle, "Now of course you're aware that Miss Witch has a much younger target audience then Witch Weekly, correct?" She smiled.

'How to Bewitch a Bloke in Ten Days' could have been considered her fifteen minutes of fame. She had received numerous fanmail letters congratulating her on the piece, and stumbled across girls bickering about it. Lavender's compliment caused her to beam widely, a small pink tint lingering upon her cheeks. "I never really find a job to fit me until I started working on pieces for Witch Weekly. I guess writing and journalism is my calling, even if I never expected to go into the field." Her nerves were setting in again, and she found herself chewing on the end of her beloved sugar quill. Her quick-notes quills were far too expensive and handy for her unhealthy habit. "I am! I actually would prefer writing for a younger audience, and I think most of my articles would be better fitted for women within my age range."

"It's nice, isn't it?" Lavender smiled happily. "Finding the field you're meant to be in? I used to feel that way in school when I'd give advice to my friends, or tips on clothing or beauty charms. And then when I was older, and it finally clicked that I could help other people with that too. It was a good feeling."

Still smiling softly to herself, Lavender turned her focus back to the interview. "That's good, then. Because we are definitely aimed at woman within our age range." She looked up at Elle. "I think you'd fit in well here, Elle."

She giggled in complete agreement with Lavender. "It really is. I felt like such a dunderhead at first, going from being a horrid assistant to Madam Malkin and then selling candy at Honeydukes all day, not to mention all of the other jobs I either found boring or failed miserably at! I didn't think my hobby would eventually turn into a career, but it's just wonderful to find something fun that you adore and excel in."

Now that she was rambling, she stopped herself and cleared her throat, beaming up at her potential employer with a wide, ecstatic grin. "You aren't pulling my leg, are you? That's brill!"

Lavender held a serious face for a moment, and then grinned. "Of course I'm not pulling your leg, Elle! I'd love to have you work here." She folded her arms on the desk and smiled at her new hire. "We're a biweekly magazine, unlike Witch Weekly, so you'll have about a week to write your column and submit it to me, and then a couple of days for revisions and layout before it goes to print. And you'll have an office, or rather half an office, since you'll be sharing with Vivi, our fashion writer. You each get one half of the room, though. How does that sound?"

The breath she had been holding in came it in a timid giggle, lips extending into a faint smile. Hopefully Vivi wasn't a primadonna who would mind Eleanor's frequent outbursts, lack of proper sleep, and the way she jumped from one article to the next, finishing the former just before it would be due, then immediately going to work on the next project and so forth. It was in her nature to hardly ever be idle. "That sounds ace. I take it I'm free to write whatever, as long as it pertains to beauty? Or are there any assignments you would want me to focus on first?" She brought her CV back into her hands, shoving it into the organised tote on her lap. "I can start whenever you'd like me to, but I'd love a tour 'round the place, if you wouldn't mind?"

"If you have ideas for articles, feel free to pick one and get started. But if you're ever at a loss, there should be a binder with some ideas in it in your office." Lavender rose to her feet and smiled. "Speaking of your office, I should probably show you where it is, and introduce you to Vivi." She glanced up at the clock on the wall and then back down to Elle. "She should be at her desk right now."
