Who: Jack Ferrington and Madeleine Davis.
Where: The Dead Heretic.
What: A drink and some conversation.
When: Tuesday evening.
Why: Here.
The calmness that seemed to be apparent in town was definitely concerning to the new madam. It was an almost complacent and content feeling. It was a sickening feeling. Everyone else was walking on glass, keeping up appearances that all was well in their normal, everyday lives. Madeleine felt as if she was on the edge of a cliff, looking at the townspeople. In some moments, she could actually feel her gut tighten at the thought of the worst that was sure to come. Madeleine decided to take the offense approach. She would get as much money as she could, lift her reputation beyond something a little more than a madam, and secure herself as someone not to be messed with in Fortunas. She wasn't entirely sure if opening a brothel was the definite way in securing her position in Fortunas but she did not know how to run any other sort of business. The grand opening was coming upon her quickly and the invitations would be sent out even sooner. For now, her focus was on tonight as she did invite the deputy for a much needed drink. She didn't know what it was like to lose family, only to leave them behind. Madeleine could only imagine the emotional toll it took on him and perhaps had left the young man quite numb. Still, a never drink never hurt anyone and it was Madeleine's intention to get on the young man's good side.
She had been sitting in the establishment called The Dead Heretic. Madeleine was definitely overdressed for the occasion but it was most definitely her style. Dressed in a fitting navy blue satin bustled dress with an upturned collar for a little decency. Her dark hair was curled and pinned, her make-up kept light and natural. For a simple drink, she most certainly did not want to over-do it as any one of her girls would have. With her back straight, Madeleine lifted her chin a little as her patience was beginning to wear thin while waiting for the deputy.
