Gas prices

1. What are the current gas prices in your area?

2. Do you remember what the price of gas was this time last year?

3. If you fill up your tank today what would you pay?

4. Have you made any changes to your gas usage (less driving, riding a bike, turning off the heat)?

5. Why are you paying so much for gas (political, greediness, war, unknown)?

1. 135.9/litre

2. Yes, it was 99.9/litre.

3. I no longer drive a car. My truck would've cost me between $150-$200 to fill up. (It had two tanks.)

4. I don't drive a vehicle anymore because of gas prices. I now take the bus.

5. I feel it's political and greediness on the corporations who export it.

1. What are the current gas prices in your area?

Around $4.20, last time I looked.

2. Do you remember what the price of gas was this time last year?

Probably around $3.50.

3. If you fill up your tank today what would you pay?

Between $50 - $60, depending on how empty the tank is.

4. Have you made any changes to your gas usage (less driving, riding a bike, turning off the heat)?

I've been trying to drive more carefully, keeping to the speed limit, accelerating more slowly. I don't really have the option to do less driving—I'm eight miles from work, seven miles from the nearest store, and there's no public transportation I could use. I've thought about getting a bike, but I've got two miles of dirt road from my place to the highway, very uneven and full of ruts, with rocks and twigs and things, and I'd probably wipe out and break something (me or the bike, or both). So I just have to pay the price.

I do try to combine trips, and plan out my route to avoid backtracking, but I've always done that, because I like to be efficient.

5. Why are you paying so much for gas (political, greediness, war, unknown)?

All of the above? I don't know.

1. I think the last price I saw was $3.86/gal
2. No
3. Um... assuming I did my normal 'run it down until there's nothing but fumes', it'd be... about $60
4. No
5. Increased demand on a limited supply commodity (China, for one, has recently skyrocketed on gas usage)

Prices are about $4.10 per gallon here in central NY state.

I don't own a car.

Somebody told me about a movie called "Who Killed the Electric Car." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489037/
