What Is This?
Who: Analiese and Ryan
When: mid-day
Where: near the campfire
Ryan heard someone approaching, and he couldn't tell who it was right away, but he called out to them anyway. "Hey," he said, squinting in the direction from which the footsteps were coming. "What is this thing?" In his hand he held a curved item made of thin metal with some kind of clear, sparkly stones all over it.
Analiese had gone to the bathroom and was now returning to camp, shivering and wrapped in her sweater. She had indeed managed to come down with a cold, and she wasn't feeling very well. That didn't stop her from squatting down next to Ryan, though. "Where'd you get this?" she asked him, taking it out of his hand. It appeared to be a rhinestone tiara.
"Found it on a bush near the spring," he told her. "C'mon, don't hold out on the blind guy. What is it?"
Analiese had to smile at that despite the fact that she didn't feel well and was in a semi-crappy mood still. "It's a tiara!" She reached over to set it atop his blond hair and then snickered. He looked very silly that way.
"A tiara? What the hell?" Ryan mumbled, reaching up to snatch it off his head. "Well, maybe Ashwin might want it, you think?" he asked. He couldn't imagine what anyone else would do with something that useless. He left unspoken his musings on where it might have come from... he knew that somebody would have noticed it before if it had been there the whole time. Hell, it was near the shrubs where he and Delilah had, well--. Yes.
"I found something today too," Analiese told him. "A spool of twine just sitting on a rock, like someone put it there to be found." It kind of gave her the creeps, because it made her feel as if they were pawns in some sort of game, something just above their understanding. "At least that's kind of useful."
"Sure," Ryan told her. "You could hang a clothesline, maybe." He put the tiara aside to give to Ashwin the next time he saw her and reached for his most recent wad of clay with a sigh. Time to see what he could make of it.
"Want some help?" Analiese asked him. It wasn't like she had anything else she needed to do right now since the pesks had been fed already.
"Why not?" Ryan said, smiling at her. He never minded company, and he liked Analiese. At least he wouldn't be the only one getting clay underneath his fingernails today.
