I am so not ready to celebrate Christmas without my family. New York doesn't feel the same.

Human beings have never been the exception to an arms race with the rest of the worlds' species. The fact that we have a new flu vaccine every year would be proof of that... or really, just any disease that has yet to find a cure.

So, therefore, however scary and disturbing it is, the fact that there exists a strain of vaccine-resistant polio in the world is not surprising at all. I had a professor in grad school in one medical anthropology course on the effects of disease evolution based on human behavior throughout the centuries, who told us that thanks to our increasing population and depleting natural resources, we are most likely due for another deadly pandemic. A vaccine-resistant polio strain is probably just the beginning.

That being said, I still stress the importance of getting vaccinated. And people that are afraid of risk factors such as autism really need to learn to do their own research.

Seriously, who does that shit in a place where there's going to be a fuckload of kids? The Tesseract got him, though, so who the hell knows if he's back or if he's staying gone from here.

But there's a hell of a lot of people at Beloit right now and I don't know if there's even a cure for that stuff. We got anyone who might know about that, or who knows where to look into it?

Hey, so I remember there being a post awhile ago about offering help to those affected by the white event. Thanks to the younger Pepper, there are a few people who've taken up residence at the shelter I talked about here on the network. They seem to be doing ok so far, but I was wondering if any of you would be willing to help out if they needed it. I can offer them some help, but I know my situation isn't nearly the same as theirs.

Alright, thought about it. Or well, made my decision days ago, but haven't poked you back.

Anyways, I'm in. And I think it's better if you're involved with this. If just because it might make it a little less awkward than me talking to him for the very first time just to tell him that he doesn't know me but if he gets bored one day and goes through the past employee records, he might see me under another name.

Not doing much of anything almost every day except for sleeping, cooking and catching up on everything in the past few years is pretty nice but everything science-related I've read has made me really miss the days I was busy in the labs. So while I've already been looking at places to apply, I thought I'd put out some feelers on the network.

I'm an MIT graduate, Bachelor's in Biological Engineering and a PhD in Genetics. I used to work for Von Doom Industries as head of the Department of Genetic Research, at least until the company went bankrupt thanks to the cosmic storm that gave me and team members our powers. Inadvertently, also gave Victor his. And his personality basically turned him into our enemy, of course. Since then, I worked in conjunction with Reed Richards on a number of his government projects. Unfortunately, my research and resume did not decide to hitch a ride with me here (despite the fact that Reed and I had only just left our wedding, we rarely ever leave work behind).

If anyone knows any place that'll be a good fit, I'd be willing to look into it.

As a physician fortunate enough to have been born, raised, and lived the majority of my life in the future, I am in a unique position to watch as the past incrementally catches up with the future. It's both fascinating and frustrating, because I know that the cure to so many diseases exist -- just not yet. But they will. And while there will be many diseases that will develop, overall there will come a day when mankind will enjoy more health than ever.

It's exciting to be living now, watching as these new discoveries are made and the chance to save even more lives becomes even more real.

This isn't really sounding right. Or going the way it's supposed to. Ok, change of tactics and power straight on in.

If anyone here in their daily routine meets up with someone local who needs a safe place to stay and doesn't mind trekking out to Queens, there's a place they can stay. Most of it is a hostel dorm sort of sleeping situation, but there are individual rooms for those who might need them for whatever reason. So, if they need a warm, safe place to sleep or even just a place to cook a nice homemade meal or hang out for an afternoon, they can give Shirl a call at [phone number] if they have access to a phone for the details. Otherwise, I can supply the address to anyone who needs it.

As another part of this, if anyone wants to chip in some free time and volunteer to help people with stuff like legal advice, finances, or job searches or even to just cook some meals for folks on random nights, the more the merrier!

If you ever wondered what it was like to work in a toy story, imagine that it's very similar to looking after small children. One kid threw up on me, and another one threw a toy at my head. Yesterday's work adventures.

I'm just glad they are working with my schedule so it won't get in the way of my studies.
