My favorite Earth holiday is soon upon us. While I will engage in no conversations of religion, I have come to appreciate cultural celebrations of all sorts. Especially those that largely consist of drinking vast amounts of alcohol, dancing in the streets, getting in fights, and pinching someone not dressed in green. It is an enjoyment like no other.

Aye, I am aware there is a great deal more to the culture of the people this day celebrates and to those of you who hail from Ireland, please know I mean no slight.

Now, who will I count among friends and extended family for drinks come this weekend?

People need to stop using the word mortal and mortals. It rubs me the wrong way -- especially because it keeps being used in a dismissive, annoying, insulting way.

Who: Silas & Thessaly [ closed ]
When: Friday, March 8, 2013, evening
Where: Sam's Bar
What: a chance encounter; two souls with the same author
Rating: PG? Can't imagine it'd be higher than that.
Status: Incomplete

Despite the fact that Silas didn't drink in the typical sense of the term, he quite enjoyed hanging out in the early evenings at the bar downstairs belonging to one Sam Merlotte. )

Should it appeal:

I have decided to conduct a historic cemetery crawl or two within the New York City area. New York has hundreds of hidden, forgotten, and curious sites intended for the peaceful rest of the Dead. If you have any interest in history, architecture, or if you have an odd morbid streak, you might wish to come with me.

I intend to see the "hidden" cemeteries lining the Western-most border of Queens, the Cypress Hills National Cemetery honoring both Confederate and Union Dead (and incidentally, where you can see debris from the glacier that once covered the area), and the beautiful stained glass of Flushing Cemetery. If I can manage it, I would also enjoy visiting the Catacombs at Green-Wood. I anticipate little difficulty in our visitation provided that I keep the groups small and we are respectful and quiet, and if anything terrible should go awry, I assure you that I am well-able to care for most.

So that I can gauge interest, please let me know if you might like to attend such tours here.

I have the strangest desire to go to the zoo right now. I guess I'm getting a little bored

[FILTERED: VERONICA]
This also looks really cool. And I'd go to see this with you, if you were interested. It seems like it would be right up your alley.

We've still got that weekend away thing coming up too, right? It occurred to me that it might be a little awkward inviting both Jo and Dean along for something like that. And it also occurred to me that I might not actually mind going alone with you quite as much anymore.

Where can a vampire get blood around here? Preferably in a bag.

Yes, I'm bothering you all with my dietary requirements. Deal with it. Please

And what the fuck happened to my Passions? I need to know what happened Valerie and Jonathan and Beth. EVERYONE!

[ Filtered to Captain Granby and Iskierka ]

As was previously discussed, I have acquired an aged bottle of Cruzan Single Barrel rum. My night schedule is fairly malleable save my classes.

Please let me know when you are both available for dinner and conversation.

I never thought I'd say this but damn I miss wannabe big bads terrorizing New Gotham. I haven't had a proper challenge in months and, if I'm honest, it's making me grumpy. Seriously, what is even the point of superheroes in this universe if there isn't even anything to fight? Other than annoying as hell, intrusive fans and angry, obnoxious protestors, apparently.

Grump, grump, grump.

I'd even welcome being locked in a sauna with Reese at this point.

Also, who is Damian Wayne?

I'm still not accustomed to the noise that never stops. Where there had been birdsong, now this constant sound of engines and beeping horns. I like it the best when, late at night, sometimes I hear the sound of laughter coming up out of the alley. It isn't home and it sure doesn't make me think of home, but I smile anyway. It's good to be where ever people are content with each other. Even if I don't mind a city, I guess.

There's always something to do. People always look for ways to divert themselves from the truth that their lives and I think that's pretty good. You guys on this network talk about training rooms and your jobs with SHIELD and Stark Industries and stuff. I was in R&D (and in the field) where I come from. You know, I don't necessarily think that's something I want to do now.

Hell if I know what I want to do or what I can do. Hunting and mining, that's all I ever really did.

Matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match

I'm not sure how things are done in this world, but everyone seems very open about everything, so I think I will give this a try.

My Captain, the handsome and brave Captain John Granby as recently arrived in this world and as his previous lover is not here, I think he would benefit from having someone to have relations with.

A bit about Captain Granby:
  • handsome
  • hard-working
  • funny
  • doesn't play mind games
  • considerate
  • new to this world
  • skilled and decorated aerial corps officer
  • excellent at riding and caring for dragons
  • loyal

What he would like in a lover:
  • handsome
  • male
  • caring
  • stimulation
  • good at relations - sexual skills
  • successful
  • good at conversation as well
  • someone who is not opposed to dragons

I will be examining candidates. After all, this future lover must have my approval or it will not be good.

In case you do not believe me that Granby is handsome, here is proof:

I decided to play domestic today and made vegan banana bread!

Cut, not filtered! )

Yum. Yum, yum, yum. Glimmer, there's a ton left if you want some.

I'm beginning to wonder if I need to find a job or something, though. I had forgotten how expensive it can be to eat healthy.

I don't find myself burdened with nostalgia, as there is no time that cannot be improved with false remembrances. But while I find there to be many frivolous technological advances that I cannot wrap my head around in the years that I have been between Worlds, one that I cannot find fault with is the camera. I had a very old one (a daguerreotype, actually) that required its sitters to be perfectly still; Bod was too much a fidgeting child for me to ever catch his likeness. Not that it matters, since my belongings did not follow me into this universe.

But I maintain that there are quite a few of the Living and the Dead along the way that should have been immortalized in light and shadow of the camera's recording. Faces I have missed seeing, people whose features grow more vague with the ticking of the clock. In some ways it is a comfort to think that here, there are those who have the faces of others.

Perhaps I will see their likeness again, someday.

Good day, mortals and slightly immortal beings alike. There are quite a few more of you here than in the summer months when last I visited.

Some of you I have seen before whilst others I met in the halls of Asgard. For the time being, I shall take my place among you and Loki (the small one) has kindly allowed me to quarter with him.

Americans, congratulations upon your primary warrior's day of birth. It is a shame that he is dead. Do you think, perhaps, it was the wooden teeth? Had he lived, he would have been 276 years old. That is still considered hale and youthful where I come from.

All of this talk about Valentine's Day, sounds like my type of holiday. Red hearts, red roses, red as far as the eye can see.

Does anyone get bizarre dreams by eating a certain food?

So Thursday is Valentine's day!

I'm so excited because I've never had a boyfriend on Valentine's day before and this is so exciting! I mean, it doesn't matter how pretty you are if you're alone, right? I mean, Valentine's Day still sucks if you're all alone.

And my boyfriend is definitely the best of all the boyfriends out there, so I'm sure we're going to have a great time.

What is everyone else doing for Valentine's day? And what are all you poor single people doing?

Whoa! Hola! This connection is crazy fast! I mean, it's Stark technology, so no surprise there, but this is-- I could get used to this!

Oh, lo siento, I didn't mean to just bust up in here-- I'm Victor, Victor Mancha. Big fan of the Avengers - my Avengers, I guess, since there are apparently different sets. I've wanted to be a superhero ever since I was a kid. Is Spiderman here? Big fan, bro! They said something about a Youth Center? And classes? I dropped out of high school, so I need my GED, you know? They said there were people I know here? Any Runaways? X-Men? Avengers Academy? And people from the past? And future? I'm technically from the future, I guess; I don't remember anything about it though since I wasn't, you know, me yet.

I'm switching out my OS, I think, to my own design. Sort of stinks that the devil's here, and by the devil I do mean Windows. I guess there are real villains here too, right? We're in a good place to fight them. Oh there's the USB port, so I guess it's babble on, Babylon!

Hey Potts Tower! I'm trawling for new music and trying to get to know people. So...

What's your favorite song? Or just your favorite song right now? Or the song you just can't stop listening to or can't get out of your head?

Currently reigning o'er my playlist is:
