Who: Robert Lutece (though if you work at Stark Industries and want to stick your head in, you're more than welcome.)
When: 8 October
Where: His lab at Stark Industries
What: Just Robert being Robert - being a genius, creating tears, thinking about blowing himself up
Rating: PG

I am beginning to think that it would be easier to simply blow up one of these damn machines again with me in it. )

I want to let everyone know that we are now offering Saturday classes at the gallery. If you are a beginner or an expert come on out. We will have wine and food, so come on down and have a nice Saturday night out.

I feel positively jealous. I come through the tesseract and it takes away all my fun abilities. Now people are getting interesting abilities given to them. Oh well. I suppose I could reproduce the circumstances that gave me my abilities. Smearing myself across the multiverse didn't really hurt that much. It was very quick and I do have everything I need to recreate it all.

There is very little I miss about Columbia - goodness knows I don't miss Comstock and his foolishness - but I do miss the views. It was a very pretty city. Superficially anyway. Rather ugly once you got underneath the surface, of course. New York has its moments but you cannot deny that Columbia was very pretty.

I do enjoy much of the artwork in this place, especially the fanart. Some of it anyway. Some of the artists are hilariously accurate.

We did do this. Of course we would. When one can travel to any time and any reality, of course one is going to have a little fun with oneself. Only someone terribly boring would not.

And I find it amusing that someone thought that we might do this. Because we did. We had to test the stability of the tears we were creating in some fashion.

Voice-to-Text Push notification to all Stark Industries employees
Okay boys and girls, this comes from the man himself: calmly get the fuck out of the building. We've got an intruder, currently on the fourth floor. DO NOT ENGAGE. Just get out. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, just go. Got it? Go to [location] and wait there until we have everyone accounted for.

Voice-to-Text Push Notification to all Avengers
Okay, so we've got a few problems here at Stark Tower. Okay, so it's one great big problem. Our friend Max Dillon has just showed up and he's looking for someone. He's not hurting anyone but he is causing some small electrical fires and other damage. So, you know, some help getting people out would be pretty fucking awesome. I'm telling people to head to [same location as above] so they can be accounted for.

Voice-to-Text Push Notification to Fantastic Avengers
Hey, I need you guys at Stark Tower NOW. Electro's here and we've got to get people evacuated. I'm also working on suppressing these fires we've got springing up from the fun this asshole's having. Make sure that people get to [same location as above] and stay there until we have everyone accounted for.

I'm happy to find New York a much more inviting place to visit than I'd heard it was. My impression until today was that the threat of a nuclear strike would have been only slightly more upsetting than having to take the subway. It's dead pleasant, though.

I'm a little embarrassed to drop in amid this kind of kerfuffle, but I hope I'll be excused. My name's Peter. I've spent the afternoon watching the endless news in a place called Whitehall, where the staff has kept up an impressive indifference both to current events and to my comfort. Beneath the facade, however, there's a current of upset: when I asked the poor chap behind the bar for a Fitzgerald, he asked me what was in it. I think he must be sadly distressed. We're all sorted now, anyway.

At any rate, I thought I ought to say thanks for the undeniable (if strange) hospitality I've received, and to apologize to anyone with whom I might have been shortish when I arrived. I've been advised I need a holiday. I hope everyone comes out more or less intact; I'd rather not die in a place called Whitehall. Cheers.

Just a friendly reminder that the ESD will be resuming courses on September 4. For all refugees under 18 this is a mandatory requirement following the laws of the State of New York and the guidelines set forth by the New York Board of Regents. However, it is somewhat more casual and flexible than attendance at a New York City Public School. You have been assigned an Advisor who should be contacting you briefly and will be able to help with registering for classes and planning for the future.

ESD classes are also available for audit to adult students, in modern culture, education, and technology for those from radically different times, and we offer preparation for the GED as well as a high school diploma.

If anyone is interested in teaching with the ESD, we offer full-time paid and part time volunteer positions. Classes are small, often 3-10 students, and meet 2-3 times per week in a seminar style. We are flexible about lesson plans and are eager to accept new courses based on unique areas of expertise.

At this time, we are particularly for classes whose professors have been returned through the Tesseract:
Aircraft and Flight Procedures, Algebra I and II, Anthropology, Archeology, Astrophysics, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, French, Geometry, Hand-to-Hand Combat, Human Mythology, Linguistics, Magical Defense, Modern Dance, Music Appreciation, Spanish, Trigonometry

Thank the Tesseract, but I may be a bit late to tonight's training.
[Filtered to ESD advisors (Rachel, Ororo, Mary Margaret, Pietro, Pike, & Logan)]
Kitty was taken back, with classes starting up again in less than a month, we don't have a lot of time to regroup. If we could meet this afternoon-- perhaps 2:30 at Edible Complex. Hopefully today's will be short, but we'll need to have more later this week and I'm hoping today's can focus us all on the action points necessary from which to move forward.

Also, Logan will be stepping in to cover Kitty's advising group, and Mary Margaret will be joining us, providing a solid bridge between the PTYC and ESD.

Please communicate with your advisees regarding signing up for classes in the fall.

If everyone would be so kind can you please confirm that you are able to teach the classes you offered last term or are interested in offering anything new.

Refugees, Stark Industries Employees, residents of my network: this is my unofficial, official comment on what happened on Friday night.

On the 47th floor, in Electrical Engineering, an employee named Mike Dillon tested a kind of electromagnetic device that he'd been working on in an unofficial capacity. We have records of this project being brought before the leads of his creative team and being rejected. His test resulted in power surges, electrical failures, and fires to spread through the building. But there is no major or structural damage, so normal work should be able to resume come Monday. If you have any questions about the condition of your department, you can access JARVIS easily enough. He'll help you out.

What curious gifts the tesseract has chosen to send to me. A Silver Eagle and the brooch I offer to Elizabeth. I have never considered myself a particularly sentimental man but I find I'm quite pleased to have these little mementos of home.

I attempted to paint a self-portrait this week.

Cut for image only )

I suppose one day I'll get that right. Or on the other hand, I suppose I did get that right. It's all in the way you choose to look at it.

Perhaps I'll try painting my sister Rosalind next.

Does anybody know a good tailor here in New York? I fear I am going to have to expand my wardrobe.

[OOC Note: Robert has been rebuilding the Lutece Field machine at SI and today he put a small scale model to the test. It worked, in that it levitated the objects it was aimed at, but given he's rebuilding it from memory, there were a few glitches and after several minutes, it more or less exploded. In small scale. Robert wasn't hurt and nothing was damaged except for the machine and possibly some of the objects being levitated, which had a very sudden reintroduction to the floor. Robert is alternating between irritated and smug. Very, very smug. More so than usual.]

It was rather delightful to get back into rowing this evening, though it is a bit of a come down to realise that I now qualify for the Masters age group. Ah well, these things happen and I rather like the camaraderie the Masters group has. I daresay I will thoroughly regret my enthusiasm tomorrow morning but it was well worth it.

One of my new fellow crewmates part-owns a small gallery here in Manhattan and we spoke briefly about staging a small exhibition of the artwork you have produced in the last year Is this something any of you would be interested in doing? They are currently staging an exhibition for the rest of June but the gallery would be available in July if we were interested.

I've had a rather fascinating weekend chasing down some of the many things Comstock and Fink stole from various tears to see whether they exist here and I have to say I do think we improved on the music. It's true there's not much difference between our version of God Only Knows and the original by the Beach Boys but I think I much prefer our versions of Fortunate Son, Everybody Wants to Rule the World and Tainted Love. But that's all rather subjective, isn't it?

I have to say though that I'm really not suited to idleness and I think a week is more than enough of it. For those that don't know, I am Robert Lutece and I am a physicist. I am the co-creator, so to speak, of the Lutece Field, a quantum field that allows objects, such as a city, to float in the air. I am looking for the names of corporations and/or individuals both in this country and beyond who might be interested in collaboration.

I have been to alternate universes where I am a woman, dead, a drunkard, a fool, never existed in the first place, an evil genius in the process of taking over the world (I quite enjoyed that one... my sister was less enthusiastic however) and married to two women and a man and between us we have thirteen children (always worthwhile knowing that I am a man of commendable vigour though I must admit the vision of America in that universe was decidedly disturbing). Not all at once, of course. However I believe this is the first time I have been to a universe where I and the others I know are fictional characters. It is delightfully interesting, though it does add an interesting wrinkle to the equations.

Invented... what? Still can't decide whether to laugh (yet, I will at least seven times within the hour) or... well, haven't thought of an alternative. Bowtie, have you seen this? Blogging, hah! I should keep a blog. Wonder if I'd have the patience? Oh. Right, the blog. News! Seems time travel's been discovered. Way ahead of schedule on this planet, too!

Sort of. Mostly. Yes. That. All right, now I'll have my first chuckle, then occupy my afternoon with pointless (but humorous) fact checking.

My, my. Someone... or several someones... have been having fun on the 13th floor. It looks rather like Booker DeWitt has been through it with a dose of salts. Pun entirely intended for those who know what I'm talking about. There is blood everywhere and... something white which I do not want to know the provenance of. I was planning on enjoying the sun out on the patio while I read but it seems that is no longer possible. I'll just have to find a cafe and have a cup of tea while I read instead.
