How's everyone hanging in there?

So, Purim was always probably my favourite holiday. It's a holiday which commemorates the defeat of Haman's plot to massacre the Jews as recorded in the book of Esther. Which, yes, I understand that that sounds like not a good time, but I promise it is. Loosely based on the fact that Ester disguised her identity to save her people, observing Purim has sort of become a time to wear costumes, eat hamantaschen and basically give thanks and celebrate. It's sort of been nicknamed the Jewish Halloween.

So tonight at the Youth Center, we're going to do just that. They'll be some costume contests, games, prizes, mocktails, and food. And also a chance to share and learn a little bit about the history of the holiday and Jewish traditions. Everyone is welcome to come. Festivities'll start at about seven tonight.


This afternoon, I'm decorating the Youth Center and making hamantaschen -- so if anyone would like to help with either of those things, I could use a couple volunteers. I promise free snacks!
