So, Amelia! What have you been doing the past week?

Why, thank you for asking, self. I have spent the past week watching "Game of Thrones" on a questionable website that had the videos available to stream but they had subtitles in a different language and the volume occasionally went out. But it was okay, because I watched it and it was brilliant and I learned three things about myself during that time:

1. My face twin lass and I share an absolutely amazing body. I know this as she truly is not shy about showing it off sans clothing. Thank Merlin I had a warning or that would have been massively shocking.

2. I love being an Auror, but I think I should have thought twice about being a dragon keeper. While in our world they probably wouldn't be tiny and adorable and would allow me to keep them close to me in the way they did on the show, I like to pretend that they would.

3. I do not handle cliff hangers with ease. The only reason I finished so quickly was because I just had to keep going. Every bloody episode! Maybe it's a good thing I don't have a telly back home. I would get nothing done.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the return on Sunday and for more. Although, I might go mad between the weeks (due to #3).

New York City's Gay Pride week is coming up in a couple of months. It starts with a Rally on June 28th and finished with the Parade on the 30th. Julie and I are at the very least planning on attending everything we can and have asked for those days off of work. For those of you who are also interested in going you should get your time off requests in early! We're planning on meeting in the lobby of Potts Tower every morning at 9:30 to go over as a group. Then we can all split up and enjoy as we like!

But! We were thinking that it might be kind of brilliant for us to be represented in the gay pride parade somehow. I am honestly hoping for a float, but we need to see what kind of interest we have first. If not enough people are interested in working on a float then we can always put together a group to march. Please let me know if you're interested in doing either of those things for the parade and I'll see if we have enough interest to do a float or not.

Strange Things That Happened To Amelia Bones Today:

1. There was a chocolate chip scone left at the bakery when I popped in this morning before going to work. This never happens. I was rather dumbfounded as I enjoyed my chocolate scone goodness as I walked to the Ministry of Magic.

2. My mum cancelled our lunch. This also never happens. I'm not complaining, however, as I was not ready for yet another talk about how I'm a spinster and I ought not have multiple cats as it sends the wrong impression and why do you wear your hair like that and honestly, Amelia, just let me set you up with [Insert Name Here]'s son, he's really quite nice for a kleptomaniac serial arsonist. Some of that may have been a hyperbole.

3. I was working on leaving the Ministry when instead I was sucked through an odd blue box that plopped me in America, thirty-six years in the future and in a universe where I exist only as a character from some book. That might have been the oddest, believe it or not.

I mean, seriously. What the bloody hell? Oh, wait, sorry -- are there children on here? Children, don't say those words.



Anyway, hello. I'm Amelia Bones, I was told that there were others here "from my universe", and I'm somewhat certain that I'm using this machine right.

It's no secret that a lot of us here are from wildly different times, backgrounds, worlds, etc. No doubt that has more than likely left a few of you with questions about this particular time and place. Some people are lucky enough to have good friends here to explain things, or the courage to pose their questions to the network at large. Others might not be. And for those people, I'd like to offer some help.

For anyone who doesn't know me, my name is Emmeline Vance. I may not know everything about this place, but I've spent a lot of my time here attempting to educate myself. I like to consider myself pretty level headed and generally very grounded. If you have anything that's been niggling at you but you aren't sure who to talk to, talk to me. I'll talk about anything. Sorcery, homosexuality, civil rights, women's rights, war, peace, love, hate... (the only think I won't discuss is reality television programming, because I will never understand that.) I won't be offended by anything you ask, and I'll do my best to help you find the answers you're looking for. No promises that we'll actually find the answers, of course. Some things may never have an answer. But it never hurts to ask, right? At any rate, have at it! I've always wondered how much ground I could cover in a single jeté if I really put my mind to it, but mon Dieu I never thought I'd be able to leap through time and space - literally - and land in a different world. It's really impressive when you think about it, and too bad I can't put that on my resumé. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Royal Ballet.

I swear that typing on this little box takes longer than getting the French Ministry of Magic to send me a copy of their case files, so I should probably introduce myself so I can I go find proper shoes before my first gray hair appears. My name's Victoire Weasley, and I'm pretty sure there's a ton of my family around here somewhere because you can never really have just one Weasley.

Ever since Charlie left, I've spent hours upon hours just working on my classes and researching current and recent archaeology digs to keep myself distracted. It had been fun to be able to spend time with him without the pressure of work and other commitments. Well we did work but not like the way we did before were we were on digs and missions, constantly surrounded by other people.

I've been seriously looking for another job lately but I haven't had any luck unfortunately. Perhaps another museum might work. This one just isn't working with me but I need the money ifI actually want to survive unfortunately. I am enjoying teaching my classes though for Ms Sto Helit though. The students are wonderful and my classes are quite small which allows for a better teaching environment. It took me some time to get my feet with that though.

Private

Now that Charlie is gone as well as Chloe I have no one I can call a friend. It's lonely. Still some people are nice enough but none that I'm close too. I was never much one for having friends, especially growing up in the middle of nowhere but I always had some. Even if it was just my father. I had hoped to meet some people at Church but that was dashed by those people who didn't want me there. Somehow I wasn't surprised but at the same time I wished otherwise. At least I seem to have found one now. The person who told me about it seems quite nice too. It would be good just to have someone to talk too.

New York City has been on my list of places to visit for years and it was simply never feasible. That is why I'm spending as much time as possible enjoying the art and culture here. Just yesterday I spent a wonderful hour up on the Upper West Side at a charming museum dedicated to the art of Nicholas Roerich, a Russian painter who spent many years of his life in Asia. His Himalayan landscapes are simply breathtaking.

Now that I'm much more settled in, I'd like to remind any young witch or wizard that I have joined the Educational Services Department here in teaching three subjects that might appeal mostly to each of you: Defensive Magic, Charms, and History of Magic.
