Agents of SHIELD:
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Director Nick Fury. Director Fury was shot last night, and succumbed to his wounds at 01:03 EST.
It is impossible to imagine SHIELD over the past four decades without also imagining Nick Fury. Director Fury was a principled man of unparalleled talent for espionage. Reinhard Gehlen of the BND once said that if Nick Fury had been born ten years earlier, the Cold War would have ended 25 years sooner and it's believable. Director Fury stood as a titan over the field of modern intelligence. But Director Fury liked to say that a man could only accomplish great things when he realized he was a part of something bigger than himself. Director Fury took an active role in the recruitment, education, and personal mentoring of countless agents and played a personal hand in the development and maturation of many of SHIELD's successes in recent years, including publicly, the Avengers Initiative.
He will be impossible to ever truly replace.
However, SHIELD must move forward. The World Security Council and SHIELD leadership have named Secretary of Defense, Alexander Pierce of the Triskelion as Interim Director of SHIELD pending appointment of a permanent Director.
For further details, and a brief biography of Secretary Pierce, please refer to memo A643-22. As always, consider this communication to be privileged information until such time that a public announcement of a new Director has been made.
I need four agents who do not have any sexual or romantic interest in females to report to me immediately. We have a very delicate situation that needs swift resolution. This team is temporary, and you must be available for immediate launch.
[From the calendar. There were only two sign-ups originally.]
We've received word from Lady Sif that one of Asgard's prisoners has escaped and is here on Earth. She goes by Lorelai, and she's a powerful enchantress with a particular fondness for enchanting men. We have every reason to believe she is currently amassing an army of men under her control. She currently has one of ours, Agent Ward.COULSON'S TEAM & SIF:
Agent Hand, we'll need some back-up stopping her. Agents not attracted to women preferred.
I've alerted SHIELD. Hopefully we'll have back-up on the way soon. In the meantime, we'll concentrate on trying to track them down.
So I just caught wind of this update.[Filtered to Percy Pinkerton]
But you know how All Things Considered was covering the Rising Tide and some of the Potts Tower residents? We got the recording and Pierce decided he's calling in with a rebuttal.
93.9 has it at 16:00 or 19:00. I think we're about 22 minutes in.
You know that "unless something comes up" clause? That's SHIELD for you.
How's tomorrow look?
Refugee #869 - Joruus C'Baoth - escaped basic quarantine procedures and has entered the city unchecked. Report to the Hub for immediate briefing and deployment for recon and tracking.
Anyone with specific knowledge of this refugee should see me immediately.
My daughter came to visit this weekend. She left a pair of socks:

If you were to put a lower limit on it, How young do you think is too young to enlist?
The storm that Donnie and Seth created is growing stronger by the minute. We need to find a way to stop it, and fast.
Ward, what's your status?
I've got some business out of town, but make sure the Retrieval sets aside and seals all of Agent Foucault's personal effects. Particularly written and electronic sources. JS.
I'm rescheduling everyone I've not yet met to the end of the week. My calendar's at the same link.
Ever see a flying snake?[Filtered to Coulson]
Heard you had trouble. Everything ok?
Our new boss just said she's going to shoot me out of the sky.
Expand upon - and further strengthen - our offensive technology and our weapons systems. Subdue and eliminate security risks; be that the Tesseract and its many fluctuations, or the traitorous agents turned by Nicholas Fury. Reclaim stolen property including any R&D technology taken by Agent Philip Coulson as well as the Tesseract itself.
Alright. So everyone should be settled from the move and if you've missed that we're guarding the Tesseract I've got nothing.[Filtered to Clint Barton, Nick Fury (mcu), Maria Hill]
But because we have the Tesseract, we have a few more rules in place. If you need anything that's not a dumbass request, I'll see what I can manage. Everyone get all that?
- We are splitting up into pairs and taking 8 hour shifts. Hansen and Kaidanovsky 2200 to 0600. Jones, you're with me 0600 to 1400, Harkness and Gaige 1400 to 2200. I'll try to have a pot going at shift change.
- People arrive. We calm them down, give them a pamphlet, escort them to holding. We keep up our schedule on drops. If we get a surge of people, flag me and I'll set up a special one but it takes about two hours and is a pain in the ass.
- Weapons are available and I want everyone wearing appropriate protective and masking gear. Gaige and Kaidanovsky. We are going to have a long talk before I can clear you for any of them. Everyone who is cleared armed at all times.
- If a threat comes through, Hit the horn, deal with it. The rest of you: that horn goes off, get your ass to the Tesseract. Take any measures necessary to contain. We do not want something getting out and being a danger to the public or giving away our location.
- If we have a breach, the Tesseract is priority. Whoever's on duty, grab the Tesseract, escape into the sewer and Don't get caught. Please review alternate exits. Everyone else, slows progress. If we manage to escape, meet up is room 37 of the JFK Inn by LaGuardia. You should all have keys.
- Computers are second priority. If escape seems unlikely, we have a kill switch located by the blue button.
Four hours. Four hours and they bring home a stray. We picked up Sasha Kaidonovsky.
Also, hey Hill.
-- It was a late night last night. How are the kids and the baby doing?
