IN CHARACTER

Name: Natasha Romanoff
NICKNAMES/ALIASES: Black Widow, Natalie Rushman, and a slew of fake names to back up a long history as a spy. Only VERY few people can call her Nat or Tasha, and she really dislikes the Nat nickname (so don't do it).
PB: Scarlett Johansson
Fandom: MCU
Birthday: 1984 is debatable.
Age: Debatable
Sexuality: Sexuality is fluid to her, but she predominantly migrates toward men. Women generally tend to think she's too cold for them. (Nothing could be further from the truth.)

Canon puncture: Sure.

Roommate request? Up for anything.

Will your character be a chaperone? Unlikely, but could be talked into it as the game goes along?

Does your character need a chaperone? No.

Describe the character's history & personality:

The truth is a matter of circumstances, it's not all things to all people all the time. And neither am I.

The truth is that no one will ever know Natasha Romanoff completely. Not even Natasha Romanoff. She has been so many things in such a short span of time, molded and formed into the malleable clay she is today. When she asked Steve what she could be for him, that was not her way of skirting the subject. That was her genuine offer to be whatever he needed, because that's what missions are for. What people are for. You show up, be exactly what they need, and then they're gone. That's life.

At least, that's always been the truth for her.

Her life hasn't been an easy one, and from a very young age, Natasha has been told what to do, how to dress, what people to be seen with. So now that she's no longer in Nick Fury's employ, she finds herself struggling with what that means. She fit the Avengers costume on so easily that just a little undoing felt like it was coming apart at the seams. That's why she felt she could run away with Bruce. To everyone else, Wanda showed them life as it could have been. Some deep dark fear that might happen. But to her, Wanda showed her the truth of her life. That she is, was, and always will be trying to clear that ledger of hers, and no matter how much black you mix in, the red will never, ever be gone.

Since she was little, she learned not to form attachments. Attachments showed weakness. Grow attached to a friend, have to kill them in the ring. The Red Room saw that she would constantly remain five steps ahead of everyone else in any direction. Preparation is key, and when that fails, less is always more. Play on your instincts, and watch for other people's instincts. Improvisation is a skill that had to be acquired from a young age, and now Natasha is a consummate actress. Even Steve Rogers thought she knew everything, and that's the trick to finding out everything you need to know. Know your signs and signals. Learn body language and ticks. Study people.

Natasha can be downright ruthless when it calls for it. You get the job done, you don't hesitate. Hesitation means you're dead. Pick up the pieces later or there may not be a later to pick up. That's the not-so-secret about the Red Room. One false move, and you're dead. No future to worry about, and it doesn't matter how young you are. You learn to be suspicious of people. Betrayal rarely means much to you anymore, because everyone does it. You swap allegiances, or regimes fall. It's bound to happen given enough time. You gain a reputation as the deadliest woman in Russia, perhaps the world.

Emotions can be used to get information. Feigning weakness always works on men. Playing to a woman's smarts works on them. Everyone is slightly different and you may have to use your sexuality to get what you want. You're good at keeping secrets, so good that you've learned to enjoy knowing things that other people don't. A secret is a debt. The bigger the secret, the bigger the debt. Natasha cannot stand owing people anything, but she'll make the exception for Clint.

No one thinks of you as overprotective. No one thinks that you might notice the way a woman walks or the way she holds herself that she's in pain. No one suspects you might make it your own private mission to make sure it never happens to her again. No one thinks that you might be amazing with kids because she doesn't talk about them. Clint's children are as sacred to her as they are to him. She's even known as Aunt Nat, something that she will hurt you with if you mention it anywhere but the farm.
