Piggybacking on Ahsoka, let's use this site to set up a temporary camp. We can't really go exploring now and we need a home base of sorts. Don't use the pods since it damped your powers. But can we organize to do the following?

Set up shelter and inventory supplies

Explore (running water and civilization being essential)

Set up a perimeter security detail around the camp

I know this is light-hearted in light of what's going on, but Elektra put an idea in my head and it's not going away.

What if we all made a trip to New York for a weekend. I've got enough money to procure one of the teleporters for there and back. We get hotel rooms, have dinner, maybe see a show. Anything. All these horses and wide open spaces are making me long for the asphalt jungle.

So everything seems cheery recently. So we're basically playing the magical people around muggles, I guess. Don't let anyone know you're doing magic and if you do it around the muggles, you're in trouble. Does this mean they're tracking abilities?

Just got the call that a young woman - Rogue - was detained at the military base for using her powers to help clean up the carnival. No one was injured. I'm going to the base to demand her freedom and act as legal representation.

Karen, call Judge Sanderson. He's from the Hellfire case. See what kind of support he's willing to provide and let me know. If you want to be a legal assistant again, you've got the job.

Elektra, talk to your friends in politics and at the base. See if you can get some concrete whys as to the new zero tolerance policy.

Jess, Luke - stay low. See if anybody has an opinion about Rogue on the streets. I imagine her arrest was not done mildly. Cops don't really know how to be secretive. (Sorry, Misty.)

Well, I can now rest assured that New York is just as I left it, albeit in an alternate universe to my own. There were buildings missing with new ones rooted in their place, and not due to rapid construction. Some things were simply not as they ought to be.

This is an absolute nightmarish time to travel though, isn't it? I trust Tumbleweed will be brimming with fireworks and other Americanisms on the fourth. I believe the last time I spent Independence Day here was when I was in university.  Seems like a lifetime ago now.

How noisy can this tiny town become, I wonder.

Hey, so. I'm thinking about taking a trip to New York at the end of the month.

Small towns like this are about the same no matter where you are. It's reassuring, I suppose, that it doesn't change much even in another damn universe. Feels familiar in the same way, where everyone knows everyone, and the little old ladies at church know everyone's business. Especially if you don't look like you fit in, if you're different somehow. I keep thinking I'll see But I'd been looking to get away from small town life like this. At least it's a different town. Guess I should be grateful for that.

The thing about this place I can't shake is how no one seems to notice how none of us fit in here. Something's not right about that. Wednesday would've had a hell of a time with these people.

How does one not go stir crazy here? A batch of film-watching or joining in on the local gossip can't possibly do the trick.

The politicians in this town are as dull as the scenery.

I don't usually do this kind of thing, because I prefer genuine encounters on my radio show. However, in light of the events, I'd like some of the Displaced to call in at certain times to talk about the incident. Obviously, we won't be discuss the truth, so I'll need people with good poker faces. Or voices, in this case.

In no way, shape, or form should you mention that a person had any ability to do this. Got it? Hit me up.

I have spent entirely too much time sitting in a movie theater today.

But I like this culture. The warrior lessons yesterday were a good way to get rid of access tension.
