who: Kylo Ren & Eliot Waugh when: July 2018 (backdated, hello) where: A cabin somewhere northern What: It's been a year since they got together, and they are spending a night away. warnings: Fluff, lots of it. status: COMPLETE.
There was only time for the one day away.
Even before Margo had given them a project to work on, there'd been far too much going on in Tumbleweed to plan for more than a night away from it all. Eliot was beginning to have to plan for the next school year, Kylo still had his position at Espresso Pump, they were still adjusting to having the girls in their lives now, and there was more than a single cat to be taken care of back at the Cottage. And there'd been the weeks of exhausting and emotional nights of backing up Eliot's memories on the off chance that he'd get a memory update that would wipe everything out. Margo's project was just another added responsibility. But Eliot had been firm about wanting to go away. He didn't want to wait to celebrate when things were calmer. His experience was beginning to tell him that there was no such thing, and he wanted to be nowhere but in Kylo's company on their first anniversary.
And they'd talked already about looking potentially at buying a cabin. The one they were in now wasn't necessarily going to be the one they ultimately chose to be theirs but it could be if they decided they wanted it.
He was crouched by the fireplace now, using one of the tools to poke at the logs, trying to aid the fire in catching on. Once he was satisfied, he stood, brushed his hands off and then turned to face Kylo. His hand extended, offering out to his lover, with a smirk.
Kylo watched Eliot with the fire in the fireplace a smile playing at his lips as he did so. The man looked beautiful, and while Kylo didn't normally think of Eliot as someone who did things like mess with fires, he had to admit that he could watch him do it for a while longer. But that smirk was equally beautiful and Kylo answered it with a smile of his own, reaching his hand forward to take Eliot's and pull him in closely.
"You are beautiful," he told him softly. "And you're mine tonight."
And he loved the idea of it. The cottage had become home, easily, and Fen and Fray he was getting used to them too. There was family there, but he still loved that he had Eliot to himself this night, that he still - usually - had Eliot to himself in bed. Those moments were precious and this evening was to him as well.
"This is nice," he glanced around the cabin, but his eyes finally landed on Eliot and stayed there on his face, the gaze saying that it was at least partially the company that made it so nice. "Did you have wonderful plans for the evening, or should I pull out the games?"
Eliot allowed himself to be pulled into Kylo's orbit, his fingers threading with the man's once he'd taken the step forward. His free hand moved up to rest back behind Kylo's neck and underneath his hair, resting there for a moment as he gave him a loving smile. "You do wonders for my ego, Ky, and you are just as beautiful," he informed his lover, as his hand snuck around from resting on his neck to brush fingertips along his cheek, with his thumb coming grazing along his bottom lip. Eliot pulled in a breath. He wanted to say how he was always his, even when he wasn't actually in his company, but he knew that was understood by now.
"All yours," he said instead, allowing his hand to drop down and linger by Kylo's free one. His own gaze moved around the cabin for a moment before he caught Kylo's once again.
A half smirk grew. "Depends on the game." Eliot's plans for the evening weren't as grandiose as he'd have liked and in the end, he was pretty sure Kylo was just happy to be with him more than anything.
Kylo answered Eliot's smirk, with one of his own, pulling his lips up. He glanced around the room, wondering if it was the sort of place they could utilize as an escape more permanently. Granted this particular cabin was not for sale, but the area was beautiful, and it wasn't as if money were an object these days. Having someplace that wasn't Tumbleweed, to escape to when Tumbleweed got to be a bit too much? That sounded a bit like heaven to him.
"So if I just had cards then?" Kylo raised an eyebrow, pulling Eliot in and against him, as he bit his lower lip, perhaps trying to reclaim that place where Eliot had just touched. "Or dominoes, I saw dominoes. Or chess. You can put your skills as High King up against Supreme Leader?" Maybe he shouldn't joke about that, but his galaxy felt a long ways away, and being alone in that galaxy felt a long ways away, and Eliot was here, and they were together, and they had an evening to play games.
"I could teach you push," Eliot said, as an arm looped around Kylo's form, enjoying being pressed against him. There was a brief pause as Eliot's eyes lingered on Kylo's lips but he wasn't so fixated that he didn't catch the words that Kylo had spoke. He gave a vibrant smile. "The Supreme Leader would obliterate the High King in chess," he offered up freely, as he knew his own shortcomings on that particular game.
Instead though, he let his hand shift from it's placement against Kylo's hip to the small of his back, and the hand that had still been holding his gave his a squeeze. "I've got dinner waiting in the fridge. We just need to heat it up. But I was thinking..." He lifted their hands up and off to the side while using his other hand to push him just a fraction closer, if only to convey the desire to continue being pressed against him, "...I ought to sweep you off your feet."
Against the small of his back, for only a moment, Eliot's hand lifted just enough off of him in order to do a quick hand motion. Suddenly there was the sound of a turntable turning on and the faint beginning of a needle starting on the edge of a record, but the song hadn't begun yet. "What do you say?" He whispered, leaning his head forward to press against his.
Kylo's breath caught in his chest, and he leaned in, smiling as he closed his eyes. Everything about the moment he wanted to just hold onto. Everything with Eliot he wanted to keep forever. They'd had a year, and it didn't feel like nearly enough. "What's Push?" he murmured, reaching to find one of Eliot's hands so that he could slide fingers through those.
But that wasn't the real focus, the focus really was the music that Eliot had just started - using magic. And there was something deeply, deeply appealing about that. "I think that if you want to… you are far too capable of sweeping me off my feet," Kylo returned, leaning into catch Eliot's lips. "It's unfair how capable you are."
"A card game," he said in a quieter tone. "Magicians like to cheat at it," he added, with a small smile. He didn't intend to cheat as he played with Kylo, if they did pick up the game, but it was what it was known for in the Physical circuit.
"It is a favored passtime," he admitted, as he gave Kylo's hand a squeeze. He leaned forward into the kiss and had to pull in a breath once it had been broken. "Perhaps unfair, but you practically make me weak in the knees on a daily basis," he informed him with a great deal of affection injected into his tone. The song actually was beginning now and Eliot gazed into Kylo's eyes as he pulled him in closer, before beginning to sway slowly to the sound of the track.
"That doesn't surprise me a bit," Kylo chuckled fondly. He could completely see Eliot cheating at a game of cards. Margo too - Quentin - all of them really. He supposed it was because, not unlike the Force, magic could be a bit of a cheat in and of itself for any 'normal' person, so perhaps one simply got used to it. "I wouldn't mind learning, and you know that I could know if you were cheating," he leaned forward, whispering this gently in Eliot's ear, with the lightest of breath brushing against that same ear.
But as he was pulled closer, any desire to learn cards in the moment passed, shifting instead towards the desire to just be held and wanted. It was such a heady feeling, and one Kylo suspected he would never get used to, ever. This being wanted by someone else - truly deeply wanted - not for some ulterior purpose that involved his powers, or his bloodline, or his destiny, but just him. He couldn't get over it. He never would. "Good," he said only. "I want to continue that, if for no other reason than I get to catch you and hold you up."
Eliot hadn't expected it to be considered a surprise and in actuality was fond of the fact that Kylo had been part of his life, and his circle, for long enough to have an expectation of how the Magicians would act around one another. As for knowing whether he was cheating or not, Eliot gave an amused smile but a quip of words did not follow. Instead he just squeezed Kylo's hand in his, resisting to the urge to shiver from feel of his breath against his skin.
"If for only that reason?" He repeated, with a hint of a smirk. Of course, the truth was that it was a favored reason for Eliot. He was fond of what felt like a guarantee. There were sometimes when doubt would rear its head and he would be concerned that it might change, but the concern came from the strongest desire for it never to go away. He liked knowing that Kylo was always going to be there to lean upon and hoped that the man felt the same in regard to Eliot. "Just keep your hand in mine and we'll be fine," he whispered lovingly.
