You are going to make this right, Ren.

1. You are going to apologize to your mother. Sincerely.
2. Fray is going to apologize to your mother. As sincerely as she can.
3. You are going to tell me exactly what's going on.
4. We will decide what to tell Fray to make it clear why she should leave your uncle alone.
5. There will be a family outing with your mother and whoever else is appropriate to invite.

Do you have a problem with that?

Your mother is family.

We are going to make her feel like family.

She's about to become part of my family, of Fray's family.

If Fray is poking a dangerous bear ~~maybe not the best metaphor~~ your mother may be the best hope we have of keeping the peace.

Fray was sold as a baby to fairies who kept her as servant. She's never had friends or a real family or a real childhood before. She has a lot of catching up to do and is going to make mistakes.

At a minimum, she needs real guidance from you. Because she's certainly not getting it from Fucking Ronan.

On the list of things my mother deserves an apology for, one of my daughter's friends sending a nonsense text to Luke, does not even make the top fifty, and I fail to see how an apology for something that she only 'believes' Fray did, will help her feel more like family.

Luke is dangerous. He tried to kill me in my sleep, Fen. My mother didn't save me then, and she wouldn't be able to save me now. That's why we've warded the cottage, and that's why I'm sleeping with a lightsaber in easy reach - that's the only thing that saved me before, and I would die protecting any of you.

I am sorry for not being clearer with Fray. I think she understood he was dangerous and she didn't take unnecessary risks, but it was stupid of me to not put a a very clear answer on it before, and I didn't mean to put her in further danger.

Fray did it to impress you, Ren.

Make all the excuses that you want, but you know and I know that it's true. It doesn't matter if it can be proved or not. This isn't a court of law and there are no talking pugs anywhere to preside over the court.

Fray cares about you. She wants to defend you. She wants to protect you and she is so, so brave. But she is the child and you are the parent. So we are going to set a good example of how your mother should be treated for a start.

And then we'll decide what to do about your uncle.

In regard to Leia and Fray's relationship, I'm not sure how to have Fray apologize without forthright admitting that we know for a fact she was involved. But knowing Fray, an apology is probably likely. And the apology would be good in establishing that we're willing to take Leia's concerns seriously.

We could ask your Mother if she feels an apology is warranted? Do you think whether she gets one or not will either increase or decrease the likelihood of her fostering a relationship with Fray in the future?

I do not know if I feel Fray owes one to Leia. That will depend upon what she said to her. However, if we're going to try to have a relationship with your Mother, and that is something she might want to have, there is no harm in doing so. But if she doesn't feel a need for one, and Fray simply obeying and leaving Luke alone will suffice, then it is a moot point.

My concern largely, for this specific situation, is our relationship as a family with your Mother.
