Kylo Ren didn't really know what was going on, except that he didn't like it. He didn't seem to have any ability to use the Force at all, but he did seem to be able to do things. He didn't know how to describe those things exactly, other than not normal. Or at least, not normal for him. They were also a bit sporadic, like, he seemed capable of doing things like telekinesis but not in a way he was used to, and when it happened, it seemed uncontrolled. This was why he was heading up to his room to find the tablet and try to contact Eliot to see if anything odd had happened to him. If it had, then it was likely just this place, but if not, then Kylo was going to start worrying. He was nearly to the bedroom, passing by the bathroom as he heard the shower start up. The water ran for seconds before there was a hard, heavy crash and Fen’s shrieking scream. Whether it was a surprised, terrified or angry scream, she couldn’t quite say just yet. For the start it was all three. Having to share a bathroom with a few others and no real schedule, Fen took her showers during the middle of the day when she would be out of everyone’s way. It was, in fact, her only real schedule. Unlike Fillory, people tended to bathe every day here with clean, warm water on command without the need of magic. It was something Fen had grown fond of and was still a minor miracle each time she turned on the faucet. But having her legs give out from under her and replaced with a giant fish tail? That was not a miracle. That was magic. Someone’s magic. And she was livid. (She decided it would be an angry scream after all.) “WHAT THE FUCK?” Fen bellowed. Her shoulder hurt where she hit the corner of the tub on the way down and her body was uncomfortably splayed in the tub. Her tail didn’t even fit, spilling out over the edge as the shower continued to spray down on her. Fen tried to reach out for anything. The words that followed the scream, distracted Kylo from his own issues. It was clearly Fen's voice, he'd grown used to it even in the short time that she'd been here, although the words were decidedly unlike anything he'd heard Fen use before. He swerved from heading to his and Eliot's room to instead hovering outside the bathroom door. There'd been the sound of someone or something falling, and Fen's words made him think she might need help - something he could have verified if only he'd had the Force. "Fen?" He called through the door, hesitant to just barge through it. There was water running, and she might be naked, and she might not appreciate him walking through there. "Are you all right?" “NO, I AM NOT OKAY,” Fen answered. She hurt, her giant tail made it impossible to maneuver in the bathtub. Her arms tried to shift her body, where she flailed for a few moments before she gave up. After a moment of defeat, she covered her chest with her arm and called out, with a little less fire, “Please help?” Eliot would have been better, but Ren was quickly becoming equal to Margo as someone she would trust. She couldn’t exactly say why. Eliot tended to collect good people in his life. For the most part. Alice seemed a little questionable. With the invitation given, Kylo pushed the bathroom door open, cautious, but also trying not to linger overly. Fen sounded as if things were not ideal, at the short end, and if she needed help, well he could do that. The first thing he noticed was what appeared to be a fish tail at the edge of the tub, just under the edge of the curtain, and he frowned, stepping forward so that he could step up to it. "Fen? What do you need, can I…?" His fingers reached for the edge of the curtain hesitating, because, well, obviously she'd be naked. "Are you… uh…" he swallowed, cheeks feeling hot. "Viewable?" “I have a fish tail, I’m not invisible,” Fen said. “Just help me out. I don’t have any legs.” She was careful to keep out the low grade panic and irritation out of her voice. There was probably, maybe, a perfectly good explanation for why the bathtub would be enchanted, and why she hadn’t been warned about it. Probably. Invisible hadn't really been what Kylo was worried about, but he decided to not bother with further explanation. If Fen wasn't worried, then there was no reason for him to be awkward about it, probably. And the fact that she didn't have any legs was enough to make him pull the curtain back, his eyes darting over and taking in the situation. The shower on, Fen naked from the waist-up, but her assessment of the legs had been accurate, instead of two legs, there was one fish tail and that likely was what he'd heard. "What the fuck," he echoed her earlier exclamation, but more quietly, and thoughtfully. He reached for the water, turning it off, so that it was no longer running over her head, and then he bent down, one hand behind her back, the other underneath where her knees might have been. She wasn't super tall, nor particularly heavy to lift up, even without the Force, and he pulled back up to standing. "Grab yourself a towel," he told her as he stepped towards the towel bar. He didn't have hands to grab it, and apparently not the Force to use to grab it either. After a bit of an awkward reach with one arm, trying to keep herself covered with the other, Fen’s stretched fingers managed to snatch the towel and quickly cover herself. Although with the tail there wasn’t much to cover. Fen tried not to think about that too hard. Once she had a towel, an arm went around his shoulders to stabilize herself. “Ren? Who did this? Someone in the house did this and it certainly wasn’t Eliot. Is this a prank? Because it is not funny! If you know anything, you’d tell me, right?” Unless it was Eliot. Fen didn’t see that happening, however. Her hair was dripping and her skin was damp. Her tail was the worst of it, tracking water all over the bathroom floor. She had a towel, so he could relax - at least on one front - even though he was still pretty aware of bare skin, and that did nothing to cover the fact that his lover's wife had a mermaid tail. Ren frowned, shaking his head, as he debated the best place to put her. There wasn't a chair in the bathroom and so he shouldered his way out of the bathroom door, the bedroom probably making the most sense. "I don't know," he frowned, mind twisting back to the question he'd had just moments before she'd screamed. Where was the Force, and why couldn't he - even now still - access it at all? "I'm not sure. I think... It might be something else. Not a prank." “Okay,” Fen said. Ren’s frown wasn’t enough to convince her this wasn’t a prank, it was exactly the sort of thing a certain class of god found hilarious. “I’ll text Eliot. He can use his magic to figure out what’s going on as soon as he gets back. We should put a sign on the door to make sure no one else uses the bathroom until whatever this is is cleared.” Fen rewrapped the towel around her body once she was set down. She could dry her hair off later once she didn’t have an audience. After a beat Fen added, “I don’t have legs so I need you to put a sign on the door. And leave so I can put on a shirt.” Ren stepped back from her bed, and nodded, trying to avert his eyes, even though she technically was covered. What was the etiquette here? He wasn't really certain, but it occurred to him even as he stepped back that she wasn't going to be able to get a shirt without legs. He glanced towards the closet. "Is there - I mean, where is a shirt? Can I get you a top or dress or something?" “Sign on the door first, we don’t need anymore fish people in the house,” Fen said gently. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be fine, I can breathe and it isn’t hurting me to be out of the water. So…” The Acting High King gave Ren a look, before motioning him out. “Just be quick about it and come back.” Her phone on the nightstand was within reach, and Fen reached for it to text Eliot. Kylo blinked, and despite his uncertainty about the whole situation, his lips turned up in the smallest of smirks. He left her bedroom and headed to his and Eliot's room, finding a marker and some paper and writing a note to 'don't use the shower due to possible Mermaid-ism' and then he taped it to the bathroom door. Having completed that task he rapped on her bedroom door again. "Bathroom closed," he told her through it, waiting to see if she needed anything else from him. Fen let out the breath she’d been holding. The towel was still held up to her front as her hair and tail slowly drip dried. “There’s a bra in the drawer there and any shirt in the closet is fine. Thank you, Ren.” Fen rolled her shoulder to test it. It wasn’t seriously hurt, but she could feel a bruise forming from where she fell. “I can wait until Eliot or Margo gets home. I’m sure they’ll be able to fix this.” Kylo stepped in, averting his eyes from her, and going immediately to the drawer and closet to gather the items. His experience with women's underwear was precisely zero, but he found what he hoped was the right bra, and the right shirt and brought it over. "Did you hurt your shoulder when you fell?" He queried with genuine concern. “Not badly,” she said. Fen suddenly felt his eyes on her and felt more exposed then than when he first found her splayed in the bathtub. “Turn around for a moment so I can get dressed?” "Oh." Kylo seemed to suddenly jolt to realization and he turned around immediately. "Sorry, I didn't mean to…" he trailed off, feeling suddenly awkward all over again. She didn't seem to be bothered? He would have reached out in the Force to try to get a better sense, but that only reminded him that he still couldn't access the Force. He chewed on his lower lip. "We can look at it," he told her. "Your shoulder. If it's hurting." Not that he could do much if he couldn't access the Force. He couldn't help but feel a little helpless. Fen put on the bra, and looked at the shirt and the back of Kylo Ren’s head. It seemed silly to cover her shoulder if he was going to look at it. “You can turn around,” Fen said. “Are you a healer? I.. don’t actually know very much about you.” Fen looked doward, embarrassed to make the admission. They’d had an entire gathering to welcome her to their home. She’d met his parents. He was her husband’s lover. But despite making a mental note of his work schedule or admiring his skill in cooking, she still knew next to nothing about him. The few things he tried to tell her, she didn’t really understand. “What did you do before you came here?” she asked. Kylo turned around, hesitated when he realized she hadn't put the shirt on, but he supposed she was as covered as she had been. As covered as Ariel was in the Little Mermaid, but Ariel was not Fen. For once, it would be nice if he wouldn't just overthink everything. "I -" he considered how to answer her question. "The Force can heal, and so I can do some healing with the Force. It's usually easier on someone who is very Force sensitive, but it can be done on anyone. Except I'm not sure, right now…if I can." He stood, feeling as if he were towering over her and after debating for a second too long the merits of sitting on the bed with her, or continuing to tower over her, he sat, towards the end, far enough away that there could be no mistake about whether or not he was trying to invade her bubble. "It's all right. I mean, I don't know much about you either," he admitted. "Before here I was…" he frowned. "I fought for an organization called the First Order. But I'm not certain I want to talk about that." Fen nodded. With a bit more effort, she shifted on the bed to turn his shoulder toward him, “I think it’s just bruised.” As if to demonstrate she rolled her shoulder without issue. “I helped arm an organization called Fillory United. I used to believe in them and their cause. People change. I understand. We don’t have to talk about it.” Her hand reached for the shirt, but she waited until she had his opinion before putting it on. Her hair had stopped dripping and was simply wet. Obviously Fen intended for him to look at her shoulder, but he really couldn't do anything for it without the Force. He scooted towards her though, and reached out to touch it gently. There was no ability to actually feel anything in the Force, but she seemed to be able to move it, so at best she might just end up with a nasty bruise. "I think it's all right," he said. "If it doesn't hurt too badly?" His dark eyes flickered over her face as she talked about Fillory United. He had no idea what that was, or what it meant, but it certainly sounded like a militant organization. The Used To suggested that whatever they stood for once, she no longer believed in now. He caught her gaze, and nodded. "I had reasons, but they don't apply here, and, I fucked some things up. Eliot knows about them, he's one of the few people who did and didn't decide that made me a monster," he smiled with uncertainty. It was why he loved Eliot, but he didn't know if that was weird to say. Then again, it wasn't a secret from either of them. Kylo drew in a breath. "It's one of the reasons I love him." He pulled back from her shoulder and reached for the towel for her hair after she put the shirt back on. “You’re not a monster,” Fen said. To her it was simple, obvious fact. Taking the towel, she wrapped her hair up in it, pulling the excess moisture into the towel before releasing her hair and shaking it out with her fingers. “I’m thankful that the two of you--” Fen shifted and realized she had legs once more. And that she wasn’t wearing anything below the waist. Throwing the towel into her lap, she snarled, “Mother fucker!” Scowling she said, “When I find out who is responsible for them, I’m going to…” Fen tried to think of something suitably intimidating and when she failed to do so she said, “...do something.” |
