Poe closed the door to his bedroom, giving Finn a quick grin as he raised a bottle of the beer he'd grabbed from the fridge. The other one rested in his other hand, one for each of them, and it would give them something to drink while they worked on Chicago.
Or at least pretended to work on Chicago, while Poe wanted to do that, he was also all right if the evening was not extremely focused on Chicago planning also. He stepped across the room and handed over the bottle. "Did you get the Internet ready to go?" He asked with a grin.
Finn was excited to go back to Chicago. It had been such a long time since he’d been there now. It was one of the first places he’d been outside of their world and given he and Rey had built a life there once, he was happy to go back. There were more places in Chicago. There were a lot more places to see. Even the lake. He hoped that the Ferris Wheel would be built by now.
Taking the bottle of beer, he smiled a little. “I think we can definitely say the internet is ready to go.” He took a seat on the bed, setting the tablet on his lap. He pulled up the website. “We’re definitely going to Navy Pier, but the museums are cool or there’s a lot of places to hike.”
Poe sat the bottle down next to the bed and climbed up and across it, leaning over so he could look at the tablet that Finn had up and ready to go. "Hiking sounds good," he offered, not really having much clue about Chicago. Finn had lived there - in another universe, obviously, but that still made him more of an expert than Poe was. "And the museums could be too. We should probably figure out a place to stay that we can get around easy from?"
Finn smiled a little as he thought back to the things they used to do back in Chicago. “Rey and I know basically all of the food places near where we used to live. So we can probably find somewhere close to there and then get around. Rey knows all the best hiking trails and stuff. We used to take Pilot on them.” Pilot used to go everywhere with them. It was nice to think of it. He’d get up early and take him out before work and then let him back in and decidedly shower before he allowed him too much attention after he got home. He learned a lot of the roads collecting trash.
“I think we could get a few things in. We may have to make a few trips to see everything, but I feel like we could probably drag Rey with us one of those times so she could be part of it, too.” Because he was pretty sure that Rey would like to be able to revisit Chicago. None of their friends were there, but the places and the food were still there.
"Maybe that one thing, uh…" Poe stared at the bed for a moment, "the 'bnb thing'? We could find something in that area?" He'd heard someone else talking about it and it seemed as good of an idea as anything. There were hotels of course, but he kind of liked the idea of maybe something different from that. Something that would be a bit more like what Finn had when he had lived there. "Should we take Pilot with us, you think?" He reached for the beer to take a sip of it. "Or should we leave him here this time, and save him for one of those times Rey is coming too?"
Finn smiled a little bit at the suggestion to find a bed and breakfast place. “I think I remember seeing a place, but we can look around.” It sounded like a good idea anyway. He’d never really been to one, but going with Poe sounded really nice. Something nice and cozy. He took a sip of his beer as he started to look at different places. He wanted to get something nice put together. Especially since it was a sort of couples getaway thing. The first one. Even with Poe in Chicago, there hadn’t really been a romantic getaway thing, so this was at least new for him. He considered it. “Pilot probably wouldn’t mind the adventure, but we’d have to find somewhere that allowed pets first.”
He paused in his looking to lean over and press a quick kiss to Poe’s lips. He knew he was supposed to be focused, but he could definitely be focused and still get a few kisses in. That was definitely allowed. And if he did get distracted? Well, that was okay. They’d get back on task.
Poe smiled into the kiss, and his free hand automatically moved towards Finn's back, to rub it gently as he leaned in to really look at the tablet. "I bet one of the places would, but maybe it'd be better to do that the second time. Not sure how he'll take to air travel either, so we should maybe research best ways to do that."
Probably the dog would be fine, but if Rey wasn't going with them, and they were staying behind, then it didn't really make much sense to try to figure out the complications. Pilot could keep Rey company and then maybe they'd all go together in the near future.
"All right we'll find a place, and how about that Shakespeare thing that's happening now. He's supposed to be famous, yeah? Pretty sure I've heard the name before anyway."
“I guess you can’t buckle a dog into an airplane seat, can you?” He leaned into Poe a little, looking around. “We can do more in depth research into how to handle all of that. I know most plane services make pets stay down in the cargo hold. But maybe if we’re taking our own plane, we can do it differently. Might be good to have more of an idea of how he takes to airplanes, though. Work our way up.”
Rey would probably like to have Pilot around with the two of them gone, however. He had a feeling. But it still didn’t mean he didn’t like the idea of them staying together as a little family unit. Only it wasn’t really a complete family unit without Rey.
“Yeah. I saw some of the movies on his works. They’re kind of interesting. Never saw an actual play or anything, though. It could definitely be fun to see.” Trying new things, in Finn’s experience, was usually the best part of being somewhere new. At least when it came to here. He’d now been dancing multiple times, learned about Disco, gone rock climbing, hiked around new places, discovered what a Pokemon was. Not that he’d kept one. Still, he’d seen a lot of new things and experienced such different things from home that he couldn’t see it as a negative thing. “I say we do it.”
"Never much had time fighting with the Resistance," Poe admitted. He wasn't certain it was going to be his thing one way or another, but you didn't know until you tried did you, and he knew Eliot seemed to like theater well enough, and Poe liked Eliot. He leaned forward, his chin on Finn's shoulder, not so hard as to dig in, but just a place to rest as he looked over. "So I guess now's as good a time as any.
"So we could do that, maybe do some wandering around one of those parks. You could just show me some of your favorite places to hang out when you lived there - assuming that they exist in this world. I'd almost like that as well as anything, you know?" He glanced over to the other man, offering him a quick smile. It was odd to think that Finn had a whole life in another world with a Chicago, different from and in addition to the one Poe remembered for the two of them back at home.
Finn was happy in this place. Especially with Poe sitting so close. And the concept of all of this helped to make him feel all the better. “Now’s definitely as good a time as any.”
He set the tablet aside, turning slightly to press a kiss to Poe’s cheek. “I will show you some of my favorite places. Especially the ferris wheel.” He had always liked the ferris wheel. It allowed him to get up high and see things from a different vantage point. “I think you’ll like it. We may even get to go swimming there if you want. There’s a lake. It’s pretty great. I mean, it’s not as hot as down here, though. It might be a little chillier. But it would still be fun.” He shrugged slightly, trying not to jostle Poe too much. “So besides booking the Bed and Breakfast, I think we have pretty much everything planned. Basically anyway.”
Poe's lips turned up in a grin. He couldn't help it. But with those words, with the idea that everything was more or less planned, he could think of so many different places the evening could go. And sure, they could keep poking at things, maybe they should, but right now, he kinda liked the idea of turning his attention elsewhere. He raised his chin, pulled back, and gave Finn a look, raising his eyebrow. "So what else is there possibly to do with our evening if we've got it all done then?"
Finn felt his face heat up a little. He didn’t understand why this still happened, but Poe always had that effect on him. At least he was lucky enough that it didn’t show on his face. He glanced down briefly before looking back up. “There’s definitely a few options.” He carefully moved the tablet to a table next to the bed. “But I guess that really depends on what you’d be interested in.” He liked their moments where they just existed together, watching movies or TV. He liked the moments that were more than that as well. He smiled a little, turning just slightly so he could face Poe. “But do you want the PG possibilities or the less than PG possibilities?”
"Well you just put the tablet away," Poe smirked, pulling a hand up to slide against Finn's chin. "So I'd say that probably cuts out at least one of the PG possibilities."
He laughed a little at that. “I was protecting it from the very real danger of being knocked off the bed. You were doing the thing with your eyebrows.” Not that it really made a difference. Poe could have given him a normal look and he’d probably have said the same thing. He leaned over a little. “I mean, I could get it back. It doesn’t take that much effort.” But for that moment, he was a little preoccupied with kissing Poe again. This wasn’t exactly a very high rating, but Finn wasn’t actually concerned with the rating.
