Julia didn't realize how badly she'd been shaking until she heard that first word hey. It wasn't loud or rude. Logan hadn't been hiding or tried to sneak up on her, but trapped in her own thoughts she hadn't really noticed him at first. Julia nearly jumped out of her skin, and her bones ached at the attempt.
Now she realized how badly she was shaking. Once her drink was poured, Julia downed it. And then she pointed to her glass for another.
"Uh, yeah. Apparently the bunnies don't work here. Logan, right?" she even forced a smile in his direction, despite the exhaustion in her eyes. He seemed friendly enough. "I couldn't sleep," she said by way of explanation.
When her second drink was poured, she took a healthy swallow and savored the heat down her throat, waiting for it to kick in until she stopped noticing the slight tremor in her fingers.
