Rey hadn't immediately gone to the suite she'd been assigned upon her arrival. In the initial hours, after they'd vacated away from the theatre that they'd arrived in, she had gone out on an excursion. Her priorities weren't seeing the luxury suite that was waiting for her. No, she was concerned about food. Having maneuvered through the varying decks, she eventually managed to scrounge up enough prepackaged food that made her feel at least comfortable for the immediate moment. She would want to get access to more but hypothetically there was time. She just didn't want to not have a stash in case something went wrong. Which, unfortunately, was pretty much how she assumed this would end. She suspected it would be fine for now but she didn't know about the long term. She had been around for the space cruise, after all, and she'd seen how that had panned out. Not that prepackaged food was going to do her any good if they somehow were met with another dire apparent end. But, for now, it would at least help her feel better about everything. She'd stepped quickly into the room she assumed was her own, as her things were in it, and went about setting the food in a safe spot. Upon finishing, she stepped out of the little room, with her phone in her hand. "Finn says he has Pilot," she announced, glancing up to see if Poe was in earshot. Poe hadn't taken a direct route to their room, although not for the same reasons as Rey. He'd taken a look around at least part of the ship wanting to make certain that everything was in order, that there wasn't any obvious dangerous thing, and that he could at least sleep tonight. He suspected he'd want to do a more thorough look in the morning, but for now he'd managed to assure himself that they'd be alright in the short term. The fact that he'd been put with Rey had first pleased him, and then he'd realized that he had no clue where Finn was. Finn and Rey had both come in from Chicago, and they had a history there together that Poe wanted to be respectful of, even if he and Rey had their own history here, and he was perfectly happy to start building one with Finn. Mostly he was glad that he and Rey and Finn were all here together, but now he worried if maybe Rey would have preferred to have been with Finn and Pilot, something that he was only reminded of by Rey's announcement. But he glanced up anyway, quick smile to his lips. "Good," he told her, wondering if he should just ask the obvious question, but for the moment he deferred. "I'm glad to hear it. I guess we can go find them and maybe take Pilot for a walk around the decks. How's your room?" "We don't have to rush," she said with a light shrug of her shoulders. She had initially been worried about Pilot's well being when they'd arrived, with her mind rushing to the conversation she'd had with Kylo a few weeks prior, and how they hadn't actually had the opportunity yet to ensure a droid would take care of the creature in their absence. The knot that had been in her stomach dissipated as soon as Finn sent her the text; and she was thankful that Finn thought to let her know as soon as he had been aware. "But maybe we can meet up with them in the morning or something? Me and Pie like to do our runs in the morning," she commented, as she moved to take a seat on one of the couches. She didn't necessarily look comfortable as she did so, if only because this didn't feel like her space. Not the way parts of the Ranch did back in Tumbleweed. She pulled her legs up and wrapped an arm around her knees. "It's a nice room." Of course, Rey would have been content with pretty much anything. She wasn't picky. "Yours?" "Nicer than I've been in for a while," Poe chuckled as he took a seat across from her. "I think these might even be nicer than the ones we had in space. They're roomy, and… really posh." That wasn't something Poe was used to and he knew Rey wasn't really used to it either. In theory it was nice having everything done for you, but it wasn't the sort of thing Poe was used to in the Resistance at all. "I guess we'll get used to it," he glanced around. "Did Finn say where he's at?" "Yeah, that is for sure," she agreed. It wasn't that her current lodgings back home weren't nice. In fact, she prefered them immensely. But these were what she'd learned were considered luxury. She'd discovered early on she didn't care for luxury. "I think so, too." And that made her wonder why they were. It was all very concerning when you learned not to trust these situations. "No, but I can ask him. I'm sure he will tell us. Do you want me to?" She raised an eyebrow at him. "I think one of the challenges with all of this, is getting used to what are sometimes radically different situations. I guess it helps that we're both pretty adaptable." Poe had never grown up with this level of luxury, nor was he used to being waited on hand and foot. "Tropical Island with no housing, no food, no amenities, then Tumbleweed, then space cruise where everything's taken care of, then Tumbleweed, then historical Tumbleweed with no water, food, or housing, then Tumbleweed, now here. And I know you've had a slightly different course - cause Chicago for a while. And this is easy - right now - but I guess, it still helps to be able to adapt." He leaned forward, elbows on his knees and he wondered if he should just ask the question. "We should figure it out," he said. "And if you want me to swap places with him, wherever he is. That'd be fine. I know you two haven't been together for that long here, and I don't want to force you two to share custody of Pilot." "Yeah. If we weren't adaptable, we would probably be worse for wear," she mused, as she shifted some on the couch. She knew that her ability to adapt, and having been used to this life for so long now, made it so a duplicate of herself or suddenly arriving on a cruise ship be met with just a shrug. "It is weird. When I was in Chicago, we never got pulled away. Odd things just seemed to happen more." Such as the time she had been hit with what was she was later told was Cupid's arrow; a circumstance she never wished to be in again. "Yeah, I figure we will," she commented before she turned her head, looking to him with a confused expression. "I mean, that is true, but I don't have to be with Finn. I'm happy being around either of you. And we used to shuffle Pilot back and forth all the time between the apartment and the Falcon." Poe was curious about the strange things that had happened in Chicago, but her comments about Finn and Pilot were as confusing to him as his suggestion had apparently been to her. Typically Poe didn't find himself ill at ease or awkward for words in front of people, but at the moment he found he wasn't quite certain what to say to her return so he grasped onto the one thing that maybe made sense - although even that wasn't entirely clear. "Between the apartment and the Falcon?" "Mhm," she replied, her eyes upon Poe now. She wasn't certain what was confusing about the statement. She tried to think. Had she told Poe about the Falcon before? Perhaps that was the confusion. After all, thus far, none of the ships from their world had really shown up in Tumbleweed. Leia's accomodations had the interior of the Falcon but it wasn't the ship itself. "It showed up after about a year. I partially moved in once it did, but Finn and I still had Pilot, so I'd go back and forth between the two places." She hesitated for a moment. "I moved in completely, with Pilot, once Han and Finn and everyone else disappeared," she added on, frowning lightly. Rey hadn't mentioned the Falcon, or maybe she had and he was blanking on the fact that she had, but it was the living separately that was really throwing him. So far as Poe had believed, she and Finn had lived together with Pilot. And he'd suspected, although he supposed he hadn't outright asked the question, that Rey and Finn were together in Chicago. It had made sense for Finn to come and move in with them at the Ranch when he'd arrived in Tumbleweed, and Poe had assumed… He tilted his head, the question was awkward, but maybe he'd just completely misunderstood and misread the situation: "You two weren't together?" Her eyebrows raised in a look of surprise with the question and it was quite possible that her expression was an answer enough for the question. But then she shook her head back and forth. "Oh, no, absolutely not. No," she immediately stammered, and her mind was racing. How long had Poe thought this? "That's not...our relationship at all." Finn was her family. She supposed perhaps their relationship could change and become something else but she didn't necessarily think it would. "It's not?" Poe suspected that he looked as flabbergasted as he felt. He'd just assumed, and maybe he shouldn't have assumed, but they were close enough, and of course Finn had come to live with them, but he had suspected it was more about Rey. He sat up straight, feeling foolish. It seemed as if he'd been having quite a bit of feeling foolish of recent. The conversation with Leia, now this. "You and Finn aren't a couple," he repeated, clarifying something he realized he maybe should have clarified a while ago. "No, it is not," she repeated. She was shifting, now leaning forward, eyes focused on Poe and the tone of surprise. She had withheld information about Finn from Poe ever since her arrival, because it hadn't been her story to tell. And, as far as she knew, Finn hadn't made an admission yet himself. If he had, well, Poe wouldn't have misunderstood. She didn't know if this version of Poe had attraction to Finn, but if he had, belief that he was with her might have held him back. She frowned. "Finn was with someone else." That was additionally a surprise, but presumably the someone else wasn't here. "I see," Poe's frown lifted a little, although he still felt bad if Finn had left someone he cared about behind. And if that was the case, probably he wasn't interested in a relationship much here. Certainly he wouldn't have wanted to have talked about it - which was why it was a surprise. It occurred to him then that he'd more or less just told Rey that he thought she was with Finn, and while he didn't think she'd find that distasteful, his cheeks still colored a bit. "I just, you know, I think I just assumed some things I shouldn't have, I guess. Sorry," he added realizing that she might tell Finn and he wasn't certain he wanted her to tell Finn, but he also wasn't certain how to ask that she not mention it, as that would be awkward. "The whole point stands, if you don't want to share Pilot, but uh, I like having you around too, and Finn's obviously welcome here with Pilot anytime." Poe wasn't someone who usually drank a lot, it didn't mix with Resistance piloting so well, but right now he couldn't help but think he really wanted one. Rey's head cocked just partially to the side and she gave a perplexed look. She wasn't necessarily sure if Poe did see but, then again, she didn't want to be the one to say. She pulled in a breath and offered him a smile. "It's alright. You don't have to say sorry, Poe," she offered up. It wasn't as if he'd done anything wrong. Mistakes happened. Then she shook her head again. "No. I'm used to living with you just as much as I am Finn. This is fine with me." "I'm sure Finn would love to come spend time here. With me. With you." Poe nodded, feeling a little bit less off-balance, if not quite as much as he'd prefer. "I'm in favor of that," he grinned at Rey, pulling up his more comfortable self. "We'll just have to let him know that the door's open whenever he has need of it or just wants to come spend time. Actually, guess we can do that right now if we do go find him and take Pilot for a walk. What do you say?" She returned the nod and shifted so she could slide off the couch and get to her feet. "We can, yeah. Maybe once we're done, we can drag Finn to dinner, too," she suggested, shooting Poe a grin as she moved to go about finding her shoes. |
