This place was no Republic City. In fact, it was not even remotely close to the same league of location. Republic City had history, it had pride, it had purpose. Avatar Aang had founded the city with a goal in mind, and his colleagues had shared in his vision and dreams. This city? This Tumbleweed? Just seemed to be another place on a map. It held no value or importance other than what these so called government officials and supposed military gave it. Lin knew the military. While she hadn’t exactly served herself, anyone who came from Earth Kingdom knew how those sorts of things worked and didn’t. Kuvira had especially brought to light the horrors military might can do when directed by the wrong hand. That was a lesson Lin would never forget in her entire life. Had Avatar Aang faced forces like those when he’d gone against the Fire nation? Had he needed to overcome mammoth machines and monstrosities that had been created by human hands and housed within human minds? These were the thoughts that came over her morning tea. The silent musings of a mind attempting to make sense of what it was she could and couldn’t do while here. The officials had said to limit public displays of abilities, and without being able to use her bending as she so chose Lin did feel a bit at a loss. Bending was like breathing. It was another muscle that moved with her every where she went. Not using it wouldn’t cause it to wither, but it would become rusty if she weren’t careful, and with everything she’d witnessed so far? It was very clear this was a world filled with non-benders. Which also left Lin with more questions than she cared for with little to no way to figure the answers out. How had these people never formed bending? What was it in them that didn’t function right? Not that non-benders in Republic City were wrong, but it just…… She never knew how to say it. Really, Lin felt sorry for non-benders. They must feel like some piece of them - their personal selves - was missing without bending. She certainly had when she’d lost her abilities if even for only a brief period of time. There were far too many mysteries going on here for her liking at the end of the day, and Lin’s mouth pulled into a tight line as her brow furrowed. Maybe that woman Integra had a point. The former police chief was loathe to admit it, but having both sides of the stories to compare and contrast could potentially answer some very big questions. Now, if those organizations knew her and the other woman were considering banding together though? Would that change things? Would they both start getting phased out? How would they…. There was a low grunt of disapproval at her own thoughts as hand shifted, moving to retrieve the teapot so part of its contents could be poured through the strainer and into her cup. A few things were facts right now in her life: She needed a job, she needed to figure out what the flameo hell was going on here, and she needed a place to bend. If one wasn’t found soon she was going to start losing her ever living mind here soon. With those factors in mind her next steps became easily cemented. A job would be acquired and hopefully teaming up with Integra would allow for questions to be answered. Now, those were easy enough to solve, the harder - and more important - part of the equation was where could she bend? |
