WHO Joe Ohno + some random worker ant
WHAT Joe gets stopped by the WBC on the way home. And he has no idea why.
WHEN Friday afternoon, after work.
WHERE Atrium → Out
RATING/WARNINGS N/A
STATUS Finished.
TO BE AIRED Yes until Joe ports out. But that's the boring part, lol. (Unless it's IC for the WBC to film the meeting too, then.)
Now that Ghaliya was back in England, Friday became Joe’s favorite day of the week. It was the last day of work and school, which meant that he and Ghaliya and Chelsea could stay up late all night, watching movies, playing board games and eat and drink to their heart’s content.
That Friday was going to be no different. Boring for some, maybe, but bliss for a man like Joe. Already there was a smile on his face as he stepped out of the lift and waved goodbye to a fellow prosecutor who still had business elsewhere. His steps were brief, and his own greetings of, “Goodbye, have a good weekend,” were generous and free.
As he queued up to depart from the Ministry, he found himself in another conversation with a young judge who he shared a particularly funny experience with in court, which they talked about smiling and laughing. After she Disapparated, so did he.
Joe had not taken five steps away from the portal, on his way to Muggle London when someone had emerged from the corner, calling him, “Joe! Joe Ohno!” What particularly struck the wizard when he stopped and turned, brows wrinkled, was that this man knew how to say his name properly.
But he had never met the young man with freckles and greased back brown hair. His robe was of impeccable quality, although wrinkled all over and he wore inside a brown, checked vest of sorts over a white top and a kind of badge obscured by the robe.
“Yes?” Joe asked as he approached the shorter man who let out an obvious sigh of relief.
“Hi!” he said and offered his hand which Joe took and shook. “My name is Kelvin Willis. I’m from the Wizarding Broadcasting Corporation.”
“Ahh, I see,” Joe said, still lost in the conversation. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Willis. Are...you in some sort of trouble?”
“No! No, no trouble at all,” he said and laughed as they retrieved their hands. And then muttered, “Although I will be if I don’t get this project approved...”
“What?”
“What? No, nothing!” Kelvin Willis laughed again and though Joe smiled at him, it was clear on his face that he was worried for the young man’s state of mind. Kelvin cleared his throat, fist on his lips. “Umm...can I interest you with a cup? It won’t be half an hour. There’s just something the WBC would like to talk to you about.”
“Oh, am I in trouble?”
“No, no trouble!” Kelvin shook his head and hands no again. “I’m sorry. I should have been clearer. I should have said that we have a proposal for you. That is...for you and Ms. Ghaliya Qualls.”
“Ghaliya?” Joe asked, intrigued and maybe even wary. “What...how...?”
But Kelvin only smiled at him brightly, and nodded.
