One moment, there had been purpose - making sure He knew she wasn't a play thing, not someone He could toss away when he got tired. But then the sharp crack rang through the air, the sound of her hand hitting his cheek and clarity fled, purpose nowhere to be found. Taking a step back in confusion, Elsa found several pairs of eyes on her, including the man she had slapped. Her lips parted, but no sound came out. Then the dark, tall woman who Elsa had never seen before in her life, even though that meant very little coming from her, stepped closer, and Elsa found even less to say. She just stood there, breathing in hurried gasps, eyes locked on the threatening figure in front of her. She looked nothing like a lady, and not at all like the women Elsa had met in her wanderings. She looked fierce, like fresh lightning and her eyes were like sharp shards of winter against Elsa's skin.
When someone else stopped forward to put a hand on the wild woman's shoulder, Elsa found even more reason to stare. She had never seen giant women before, and somehow looking at her, Elsa was convinced she had never seen anyone with hair the colour of the sun either. Her beauty seemed oddly exotic, foreign even though she didn't know what was supposed to be familiar. Her eyes moved away and slid over Him again and her world lurched sickeningly again. She had slapped him. What had possessed her to do such a thing? She could not recall, not understand her reasoning from just moments before, now all she felt was a sudden all-consuming panic. She ought not to have done it, no good could come from it and surely now he would be terribly angry. She was convinced that no good could come from Him, a Man, being angry.
"Perdonami," she breathed, hardly audible, waiting for him to react in some way and fearing that reaction whatever it might be. "Mi dispiace, non intendevo ferirti...mi dispiace." She was almost rambling, raising her hands pathetically in front of her, any pride or anger she might have showed quite forgotten.
Perdonami - Forgive me Mi dispiace - I'm sorry. Non intendevo ferirti - I didn't meant to hurt you.
