Brennan gave her a puzzled and saddened look, wondering if she had been close to the Grey Warden who had died. He knew how that felt, all too well. It should also teach him that even though he was happy to be reunited with his friend, there were still those who had recently been parted from theirs. That was a sobering thought.
After giving Imenry a final squeeze, he stepped back. While he still kept one arm around her back he was not pressed as closely against her as he had been. “I was glad to be of help.” While he was not normally so quiet, he left it at that. He did not really know what to add to the discussion. Although he had fought in the so called skirmish, he was not truly a part of it. Everyone else was connected by a fellow feeling, a group dynamic that bound them to a common purpose while he was just a hanger on. Beyond that, he did not know what exactly it had meant for him.
Now, it was looking more and more like it was a major turning point in his life. Had he not stopped, he would never have met up with Imenry again. Had he not stopped, he would not have met the strange mage Elsa or the Grey Warden Signy. Perhaps it meant that the wind was no longer working against him.
Speaking of winds, Imenry had a strong one coming off her. “Imp, I love you like a sister so I am not afraid to tell you that you reek.” He tightened his hand that rested gently on her waist once to let her know that he was teasing. He would really like to talk to her alone, as there were things that he doubted that could be said even before her new friends.
