Imenry shot Brennan a look when he started to say that he couldn't stay. Of course he was staying. She wouldn't hear any different. There was no way she was going to let him walk out of her life when she'd only just found him again. Her hand tightened around his waist, as if she could hold him by force, and though she probably could, if he was truly determined to go, she wouldn't. Though she would be horribly upset.
"Brennan, this is Signy. She's a Grey Warden, and a mage." Too was the unspoken part of that sentence. Looking to Signy, Imenry wondered how exactly she should broach the subject of Brennan's status. He was technically an apostate in Ferelden. Under Chantry law he should be killed or dragged off to a tower, something that Imenry herself would kill every Templar who tried to do so in order to prevent. It would certainly only make for more trouble. But Signy was a Warden and surely she had the authority to protect him from anything. If he came along and helped to fight the Darkspawn, then he would be doing something good with his magic.
"Signy, this is Brennan Wulfe. He's an old friend. He's like family to me. I... guess we're both surprised to see one another." She realized suddenly that there was so much she had not told Signy, about the destruction of her village, about the loss of her family... many things. It was true she usually kept these things to herself on some level, but Signy deserved to know at least something of her past. She resolved to tell her, once they were not in such a public place perhaps.
She gave Brenn a reassuring look. She was always the one who knew what to do in dire situations, and she was going to make it so that he could stay with her. Shifting to look over his shoulder she saw Hilda still approaching and smiled warmly. She figured that Brennan would get along with both of the blondes with ease, after all he was always a friendly sort. But the fact that she got on so well with both of them as well was an added bonus.
