Brennan's smile sobered quickly at the mention of future plans. Although he did not step away, there was a sudden distance. He hated it but he had learned in the years since they had last been together that he was an 'undesirable member of society'. No matter what political clout her friend wielded, nothing could really change that, right?
"Imp, I can't stay here-" He stopped talking when a young dwarf walked up to them. This was Imenry's friend? He tilted his head to the side as he considered the girl. Knowing that appearances rarely meant anything - he was a evil, wretched mage who worshiped heathen demonic dragons and no one seemed the wiser on most points - but he could not figure out the girl. Based wholly on the fact that she seemed to be Imenry's friend, he was inclined to think the best of her.
That still did not mean he knew how she could help him with his little magical problem. And he was not going to put Imenry in danger just by association. On the other hand, he could not seem to bring himself to actually let go of her and step away. His heart was winning out over what his mind was screaming at him to do. Again. Which one was right? It was hard to say, especially when both put forth good arguments. The fact that his heart's argument consisted solely of an aching loneliness at the very thought of leaving was very convincing.
Finally, after being unable to decide which was right, he cast a more than slightly desperate look to Imenry. She was the levelheaded and proactive one of their duo, while he brought the levity and laziness.
