The bow dropped to the mossy forest floor, and Falina stabbed again before losing her nerve. Her arms were tense, every muscle in her body coiled so tightly that she feared that she might never relax. The creature lashed out with one arm, as if it were a mad bear trying to dislodge her from it's back. When it howled, she yelped- trying not to cover her ears against the rattle. The dwarf panicked, shrieking as a fist came far too close, and wildly she brought her blade down, lodging it in the hollow of the Genlock's shoulder.
The Darkspawn's head turned with a gaping maw that spread across it's cheeks, razored teeth pulling apart to rip loose an anguished howl. The blade wouldn't come loose from the flesh, caught somehow on the rusted armor, and Falina abandoned it entirely. She stepped away from the creature enough to dodge the Genlock's swinging limb (the forearm boasted armored spikes that could have easily taken her life), but was unable to slide away from it's metal covered backhand.
The blow dazed her, striking with unmatchable force against her cheek and lips. She cried out, forced to the ground from the momentum of the strike. The Genlock was gravely injured, moving jerkily over her with all the grace of a wounded animal. Shartan came to her aide, lunging forward- his mighty paws pushing the Darkspawn to the ground before finishing what the dwarf had started. She scurried away before the creature was dead, one hand covering her bleeding cheek. Falina pushed herself up off of the ground, and once on her feet, she immediately began a litany of 'I'm alright', though, that was up for interpretation.
So... one down, she mused with a wince. What a nightmare.
