It was chaos, utter chaos, Jill thought, as she looked over her shoulder. At least the chaos seemed to end up getting a lot of darkspawn killed, that was a good thing, but any further analysis of the battle field was beyond her. Just as she was turning back ( she had learnt her lesson that one time Ordhan saved her, that riding was something she ought to do with her eyes forward) she saw Conlan though, and what she saw made her pull the reins slightly, to make Salma slow to a walk. What on earth was he doing? It wasn't until he had drawn them off that she looked around and realised what girl he was talking about.
There was a blonde girl in a tree, not far from her position. Jill spared one second for staring in total bewilderment, before acting. When Conlan had been brave and stupid (she had to tell him this again, maybe he would see her point after this) enough to pull all of the darkspawn away from the girl, at least Jill could help by doing her part.
Spurring Salma on again, Jill steered her around the smoking corpse of a darkspawn and towards the tree. She still had her bow ready, but realising that Conlan delicious-at-this-time-of-year Delaine had probably managed to call them all over, she tucked it back down in it's sheath, with a shake of her head. The voice in the back of her mind that sounded like Bennick yelling at her was ignored. Making Salma halt right next to the tree, Jill made the horse sidestep urgently until Salma was closer to it than she really preferred, before looking up at the tree crown and it's inhabitant. "Come on!" she cried. "You'll have to tell me later how you ended up there, but for now, jump!" Realising that it was still a rather high jump, Jill raised herself in the stirrups and held up her hand. Maybe it wouldn't make it easier, but at least it would give the girl something to hold on to if she decided to fall off.
