Though she wouldn't have been one to judge, Constans' ego was fortunate that the room was still relatively dim and Beth had already turned away. She couldn't see that his eyes were watering, but if she had...well, maybe he would have been luckier, then. But such as things were, she missed out on any visible remorse he might have had at that moment, and was building up her resolve to continue her investigation, even if that meant being deceitful in the process. It still made her feel ill, no matter how she tried to justify her actions by saying that Constans had brought it on himself. She was trusting and loyal, but not an idiot.
"Good," Beth murmured, nudging the torn robes under the bed with her foot until she could figure out what to do with them. "I'll be back in a little while." The mage flashed a small smile at him, and swiftly left the room once again, hoping that he would still be there when she got back.
