bethen avilla ; the circle mage (bethe) wrote in thedas,
All of Bethen's cool confidence melted away at Constans' melodramatic pantomime; the curve to the corners of her mouth dropped, and she felt her face go hot, as if the fire in the caverns was back on her skin. She was blushing, in all likelihood, and being incredibly pallid didn't help to conceal her embarrassment at his display of gratitude. "Oh...er...it was..." It wasn't nothing, not really. She'd almost drained herself on mana by summoning all those spells, and she'd nearly had her face mauled by a large arachnid trying to clear a path for them.
"You saved me, too," she finally managed to say, after what felt like the longest, most awkward pause in the history of Ferelden. "I mean, I didn't think-- The fire was maybe--" She winced. Rationality and over-analysis was ruining her attempt at being grateful, so she stopped herself. With full sincerity, she bowed her head at the boy, "Thank you. If you hadn't acted, I think I'd be a spider's lunch by now. So...I think you get to be my hero, too." Having said that, Beth had to look away from him again, let she shrivel up from how sappy it sounded, especially since she wasn't at all mocking him.
