In all honesty, Bethen's feelings were a lot closer to the boys'. Of course it was of utmost importance to her to stave off the Blight and use her Maker-given abilities to protect innocent life, but that didn't mean she couldn't also be incredibly giddy about the idea of being able to see the outside world with her own eyes for the first time in what felt like forever. Seventeen years. She had been waiting seventeen years to see the sky and the trees, feel the slick of mud under her boots after a fresh storm, to even stand under a sudden shower and shout in delight at the feeling of a raindrop on her skin. It was one of the more uncomfortable evenings they'd gone through, getting soaked to the bone and having to take shelter in a cave that was empty, but still littered with bat droppings. Nevertheless, there was not a single second of the experience that Beth regretted, dirt and wet and cold and all.
As they drew nearer to the pinpoint of light ahead, Beth slowed her pace again. Aurin had yet to come back from scouting ahead. She matched stride with one of the Templars, "I suppose we ought to stop and wait for word?" Not that they couldn't handle themselves if there were bandits ahead -- a company of at least six full Circle magi and nearly as many Templars would prove difficult to take down, even by a group of the most skilled thieves. Still, it didn't hurt to be cautious, not to mention they would have to pause and make camp soon enough, anyway.
