Ordhan's smile wasn't quick enough, and Falina wondered with cold dread if she'd overstepped their tentative and new friendship. He didn't say anything, and he certainly didn't admonish her, but there was no insight into what he thought. He was very different from Cormac in that regard. He didn't seem to be angry, and the touch on her shoulder was reassuring and welcome. She met his smile with one of her own, and resolved to be less paranoid. "It was one of the best, thank you. Sixteen doesn't feel any older than fifteen, but then again, fifteen didn't feel any differently from fourteen." She tucked her hair behind her ear. "We'll just have to see how seventeen feels."
Falina listened carefully as Beth spoke, trying to reason what she did know with what she didn't. The woman was a pleasant orator, her tone measured and her response considered before given. She didn't know the difference between a Mage and an Enchanter, but apparently they were trusted more. "A potential danger? Like a demon?"
She tried to remember what it was that Cormac had told her. While the details were fuzzy, he had talked about a mage who became a monster, and one who'd raised a dead army, something that reinforced the rumors of what had happened in the Diamond District. It had something to do with demons... "It's fine if you don't want to talk about it. I imagine it could make you sick to your stomach worrying about it all the time."
Falina canted her head, unable to imagine this woman as anything violent and destructive. It seemed impossible and absurd. She had a face like a doll, and possessed the sweetest temperament. How was it possible that she could turn into a monster?
Falina's eyes flew wide at the mention of Calenhad, trying to imagine a tower sticking out of the river in Redcliffe. "How... how did they manage that? In the middle of a lake? Did they make it with magic?" It seemed unfathomable, and she was certain that her mind was not doing it's appearance justice. "I'm from Orzammar." She giggled at the description, thinking it at once hilarious. Orzammar was an underground civilization, and while she doubted that they were all that similar, she'd never seen Bethen's home. Discrediting her judgment was premature. "Funny!"
