Coan Bryland ; the ferelden noble (coan) wrote in thedas,
Happy to let his dog make new friends, he had no intention of coercing Noa from the young woman's lap. She was always nice to other people, especially when they paid her plenty of attention. He should have known, though, that once she heard the tone in his voice change the way it had, she'd be right in his lap. He barely blinked, though. Her affection hardly phased him, because he was so used to it. Whenever he got angry or sounded as if he was sad, she gave him kisses, then made his lap her bed. If it didn't make him smile, it was at least comforting.
When Bethen spoke up again - though she spoke in a whisper - Coan brightened a bit as he absently scratched at the Mabari's neck. "Oh, you've volunteered!" He did his best to keep his own voice down, knowing it was late, and not wanting to get the attention of the templars who'd probably wondered just where he'd wandered off to. "Well that's wonderful, then." At the mention of the First Enchanter, he took a moment to remember who the man even wad, then grimaced a bit when the man's face flashed in his mind. "The first enchanter seems a bit...uh. Strict, I suppose. But, I don't know him well enough to judge. But the Warden-Commander - Alistair," he beamed a bit, patting the overgrown puppy in his lap. "He is awfully kind, isn't he? He suffers my incessant questioning with minimal visible annoyance." He couldn't help but interrogate the man about his experience, especially since Coan hoped to survive very similar experiences.
When she changed the subject, he nodded as the Mabari shifted in his lap, exposing her belly and whining until Coan paid attention to her. "Oh, yes, we travel often. For the last few years, it's been mostly to Denerim, for landsmeets and the like." He took a moment then to remember where else he'd been, and why he'd gone. "There are still many place I haven't been, though. But that's changing very quickly. I'm here, now." He smiled brightly. "And when we leave, I believe we'll be traveling to Orzammar." If he sounded excited, he was. There were dwarves there, and he'd always wanted to meet one, instead of looking at one from his balcony.
