Imenry lowered herself to sit on the bed, reaching for her comb so she could work the tangles out of her hair. She was silent for a while, as Brennan spoke, raising a brow at his words. A crazy woman. Wonderful. Hopefully she wouldn't be anyone to worry about in the long run, just some crazy village woman who would be left behind as soon as they had taken care of the problems here in Redcliffe.
"I don't know. You should have at least said something. If you didn't know her you could have hardly deserved the slap." She rolled her eyes slightly and kept her attention on working the knots out of her long hair. Then she sighed. "Anyway, it seems stupid to get stuck on this when we haven't seen each other in so long... when I..." She hesitated, having trouble with the words. "I thought you were dead. I thought almost everyone was dead..." She frowned slightly. "Where have you been all this time?"
She wanted to keep the questions focused on him. She didn't want to talk about the things she'd done... answer the questions he'd have for her. Maybe it was hypocritical, but it was hard for her to admit to him just what sort of life she'd lived. She wasn't the same woman he'd known. That Imenry had been similar, it was true, but she'd been happy.. with a family who loved her and a home she would die to protect. Those things were gone and it had been hard to find something to keep her going sometimes.
