At least she had already shouted at him, Jill told herself, realising that she was all smiles now, when she had decided before to give him a piece of her mind. And, well, she had given him a piece of her mind, it was just that his answers had been somehow very disarming and the fact that he was naked quite suddenly distracting. Mentally shrugging, she laughed at his joke and his shrug. He always seemed to deliver his jokes like that, with a shrug as if it wasn't really a joke and he didn't care if one laughed or not. But Jill did laugh, even if her smiles faltered when he continued speaking, the subject now more serious.
The affirmation that she was helpful was nice to hear, especially since she had never before been nervous about such things. Her self esteem was most usually so good that she didn't worry about it; there was few situations in which she would need assurance at all. But apparently travelling with a large group of people, many whom she looked up to, brought out such feelings in her.
When he put his hand on her shoulder, she smiled again, but it was not a merry smile, it was one of thankfulness and being relieved. "Well, I don't exactly think I need to, but I can, and that makes all the difference. Lillie can't fight, for example, so I feel I ought to do what I can, because I can," she tried to explain. Giving in to temptation and a friendly urge to show him that she was thankful, Jill took a step forward, raised herself on the tiptoes and kissed Conlan's bearded cheek. It was slightly scratchy under her lips, but warm, and a slight blush rose on her cheeks, even though she just regarded it as a friendly gesture. Stepping back again she fiddled with the too large arms on her shirt, a little nervous if he would find her too forward. Finally a thought struck her, her nervousness evaporated and she looked up again. "If not killing enough darkspawn wont get me kicked out - what will?" she asked cheekily, dimples showing and the sparkle returning to her eyes.
