Opening her mouth, at first her words failed her. She was acting as if this woman was Flemeth approaching her, but she could not be sure that it was not just the one person. She could have the entire group scouting with her. Aedre could not face so many with any chance or hope of survival. In the end, she decided to be bold. It was better to put up a face of strength than cower until they found her. She moved from bending to standing, putting her shoulders back and puffing up her chest. As Bethen approached and became more obvious, Aedre started again, more confidently this time.
“Why do you enter the Wilds alone, stranger,” she began, sounding as best she could like she was not to be trifled with. All the while she felt her heart beating wildly. “Have you not heard that it is dangerous on your own?” Gripping her staff with rocks of fingers, she met Bethen’s eyes and turned a palm toward the sky. Immediately flame burst from nowhere, though it was quite contained and only meant to light the scene. As she looked the other woman over, Aedre noted the staff and the light armor – she was a mage, and looked formidable at that. She would have to tread carefully.
