For a moment it looked as if the elf girl might skewer Jill, and not take the apples, but then the moment passed and Jill busied herself with studying her boots again. She was unsure how to proceed, if she ought to speak or not; her comfortable friendly ways had all but escaped her for the moment. Nibbling at her lower lip, she glanced sideways, seeing the girl slicing the apple and then Salma's immediate reaction to the smell of more apple.
"She will remember you forever now that she knows that you're a source of apples," Jill said lightly, turning her gaze away again. She did not despise the girl for preferring Salma's company, on the contrary she had the outlook that if Salma liked the strange elf girl, she had to be a good sort. It would just have been easier if the girl had been more ready to talk to Jill as well.
Frowning in deep thought, Jill could not find a perfect solution and suggested the one thing she could think of. Salma didn't have a saddle of course, which would make it more challenging, but maybe a challenge was just the thing to take the girl's mind off her shyness. It was worth suggesting anyway. "Want to go for a ride?" Jill asked, tone hopeful for more reasons than one.
